The whole tree has to go!

I actually haven't thought of it that way. I mean, what i normally do is chop off some parts of the tree, leave the upper parts hanging, do my crafting and walk away. I just leave the tree there with some parts floating in the air and looking all weird. I guess I'm a bad person for being so careless and insensitive about that small detail. LoL ;)

At first I thought that was too harsh, but on second thought, that might not be long enough :) I say give the 4 days on the first offense and ban them for life if they don't learn :)

Well, most people don't get the bans for it. Usually when I see the floating trees I just take out the tree myself and leave it. It takes an entire 6 keyboard presses and a whole mouse click to see who left the tree, and I'm way too lazy for that xD

Yeah I was just kidding around, don't go and ban people just for that lol :)
Especially if it is such a hassle, I didn't know it was such hard work hehe.

I always completely chop down my trees, unless it would be extremely tedious to chop it all down and I won't be back in that area ever again. It annoys me a lot when I see trees not completely chopped down in multiplayer worlds.

I see very little purpose for not taking down the entire tree - I already started, so I might as well finish. An abundance of material is never bad as long as you can store it away.

That, and I plant a sapling where I cut down the tree so I can come back to provide constant resource.

I never chop down the whole tree. Now, before you panic, let me explain! I never leave floating blocks of wood around. I chop down the whole tree, save for the bottom-most piece, the "stump". That way, when you cut down a forest, you have all those lovely stumps showing, spicing up the boring land! It is also more realistic that way.

The kind of people that don't chop the whole tree down when collecting wood are the kind of people you don't need in your life. I will actually collect and build stairs out of dirt just to make sure I get every block.

It is really aggravating when you can't get the last block of wood, I always pillar up so I can get the last block of wood, it is just something I HAVE to do. Also, it would be much better if all the tree fell down when you chopped the bottom block, doesn't make any sense to have a floating block of the tree when you cut the bottom block already.

When I first played this game, I'm pissed because the tree doesn't fall off when I chop one block of it. But now, thanks to Timber mod I can chop trees with ease.

Hehe, that's interesting, do you then tear the stairs and fill the hole again or do you leave a trail of stairs as you go along chopping trees?

YES. I can't sleep knowing that I didn't cut the whole tree down. It's like a minecraft religion.

A mechanic that Minecraft should employ is when a tree is detached from a block of dirt, the tree should slowly decay. If saplings fall from it, then if it hovers on the ground long enough, there should be a % chance it would plant itself. If it's a tree that requires four adjacent blocks to grow, then once planted, it will automatically place three more saplings around it.

Leave no tree blocks survivors. Murder them all.

Now that's actually an idea I can get behind. Someone needs to make this happen.

My girlfriend's pet peeve was floating tree islands. I then go into the habit of cutting down the whole tree.

I absolutely have to finnish off every tree or I can't even play the game. Sadly thats pretty time consuming considering I like to plant saplings in a 4x4 pattern. Cutting down all 20 of those isn't easy o_O

YES!! Absolutely! Its like a horrible OCD habit, lol. I can't even imagine how many hours I wasted in survival mode clearing out forests that I ended up never even building in. As soon as I got that last cheivo it was on to create mode for me!! And Ive never looked backed. Anytime I want to start a new build, flat plane. I'll leave structures in there sometimes... adds a little variety to the mix.

Here I thought I was the only one who was obsessive about tidying up my Minecraft world! I do this nearly every time. I have attempted to "clean up" an entire area with TNT, but that ends up leaving ugly craters that are a bigger mess than before. So chopping up a floating tree is really the only way to go.
