Aah the good old "lets blame video games" mentality. Despite you know studies showing that viloent video games actually cuase you to be less likely to be a murderer. Becuase they allow you to take out your stress on the game.
But alas thus is the media. :sigh:

When I here all the kids in my school talking about how hard they work. There always complaining about shit like "Ah man I had to work like 7 hours last night flipping burgers and texting and shit, but I'm like totally self reliant and shit with my minimum wage Mcdonalds pay cheque, I worked like 15 hours last weak, so hard. You dont know what it's like to work hard like this Aaron because you don't have a job right now"

Every time I here that it makes me want to punch the person right in their super sized face. It's true I no longer have a job because I found school more important but in the time I did work (summer vacation, only 2 months) I made More in 2 days than you did in a week. I spent 11 hours a night working night shift in a steel factory. They're always complaining about how strenuous it is to flip burgers for a few hours.

Meanwhile I'm stacking hundreds of 20 foot long rebar bars onto racks in the 30 degree sun so they can be galvanized. By the time I'm finished with that it's about 5:30 and I move onto an industrial saw cutting and grinding follower bar (I'd finish 3.5 pallets a night if I was really fast) and working a crane at the same time (putting various bars on a trailer for a different Kasto saw). And sometimes, if I was really lucky I'd get stationed in the galvanizing plant. It's always boiling hot in there due to the multiple tanks of boiling metals and acids (the tanks are about as long as big rig trailers and 8 feet deep). A respirator is required to reduce the inhalation of the acid tanks fumes.

Inside there I will do more racking until the night is out and I can finally leave, at 2am.

Oh, and did I mention only 5 out of the 26 people I work with including me speak a word of English. Do you know how hard it is to decipher Russian, German, Vietnamese and the language of a tribe located somewhere between Thailand and Berma?! On the spot! Never mind trying to tell them to do something.

Hugh!... Don't know what hard work is my ass! In the two months I was there I broke my face on the concrete floor, cut my arm multiple times on saw blades (left some pretty good scares too), was hit by an exploding saw blade, got industrial grade acid on my arms as well as toxic paint, was nearly crushed by 6 tons of falling steel, nearly ran over by a pyramid of rolling steel pipes (quarter ton each), saved a Russian from a swinging cranes swinging ball and hook, witnessed a man get covered in molten Zinc in an explosion (he received third degree burns and is still off work), and trained a man too work a machine who was a day later roughly arrested by detectives during our lunch break as a suspect in a murder case (we never saw him again).

This is what I feel like saying to people who keep bragging about their days work. I've meet people with unbelievable life stories about corrupt government officials, bribes, war crimes and all sorts of weird shit. There was even a guy working the same hard labour job as me who had a TRIPLE MAJOR in science or some shit. He was working on 'the missing link' in plants and got banned from ever practicing science in Manitoba. He won't say why.

And that's what really pisses me off. Let me know when you have darker skin than an African guy leaving work because of all the grim or have to buy new boots because yours fell apart in the mud and steel floor. Going to bed when the sun starts to shine and birds chirp is a shitty feeling.

But hey, at least I made $1,500 pay cheques while I worked. So enjoy your happy meal Bitch! God knows you've earned on with all your hard work ya prick!

If you've managed to read through my whole rant, I salute you.

Well Aaron has earned by respect, that's for sure. As someone who was worked a brutal summer job, I feel your pain. While working on a farm in Iowa, I was sprayed on by a crop duster, got third degree sunburn on face and arms, tore up my leg in a spring-tooth harrow, was almost run over by a combine harvester (twice!), and I permanently dislocated my right elbow when I fell out of a barn. I broke my back for the entire summer in the blazing sun while my friends were off playing videogames. Yet some people still bitch about their job at Regal Cinema.

If you are not part of that group then you can rest assured that I wasn't targeting you with that comment, Mr. Pip - Say, you wouldn't happen to be a South Park fan by any chance?

What I was getting paid was just the starting wage ($14/h) plus all the overtime I did in galvanizing. It could be better, but it's an honest dollar. If I was to work there longer I'd be making $30 or $40 an hour, but I don't mind, a kid my age doesn't need tha kind of money anyway.

Days where I get nothing done! I have nothing real to do besides homework or college applications. I know its my own fault for screwing around on the internet (not including here of course!) but it feels as if there is never enough time.

I hate shit like that! It happened all the time when I worked. Like dipping some sort of steel into the zinc tank. Sometimes it turns out that some air got trapped inside causing a molten explosion. Luckily I never worked close enough to get hit by it but it sounds like a grenade exploding.

Or when your saws making a cut and it suddenly hits a hard spot in the steel snapping the teeth off the saw blade and sending the red hot bits flying across the room. Happened to me three times in two months.

But by far the worst of them all for me is when the chains on the crane snap causing the multiple tons of steel to crash to the floor. It's so deafeningly loud that my ears ring even with ear plugs in. Not to mention the incredible amount of vibration that goes through your legs if you're close enough. It's only happened once to me and luckily no one got hurt. But damn was it scary as hell!
