I doubt it could 'screw up someone's eyesight'. I mean we life in a world where people spend hours and hours daily in front of computer screens and TV's. If we're screwing up our eyes, we're already doing a good job without Oculus Rift. And I think the Rift is going to be a revolutionary change to the gaming world. A good one at that.

Too bad facebook bought the Oculus. I was so looking forward to it, now that FB owns it, I expect it to be a plethora of ads and "would you like to share" crap. Hopefully I'm wrong though. Being able to immerse myself like that would be awesome!

Yeah I was super bummed when FB bought them for this exact reason. IIRC, Notch (the creator of Minecraft) was a huge supporter of Occulus until the FB purchase. He not only has stopped donating to the project but was pretty upset that all the money he invested was essential for nill because of the reasons you stated.
So don't expect an official Occulus mod to ever be released. Luckily Minecraft has an enormous player base so I'm sure we will find integration with Occulus to some degree when it is official released.

Well, guess what? I actually saw the famous YouTuber CaptainSparklez playing minecraft on the oculus rift, so I'm pretty sure that that's a thing. I couldn't see it from the video, clearly, but I know that it must have been amazing.

If you have to wear gloves and move your arms to chop the trees down, mine cobble, and such, I'd figure that your arms and legs would get tired very, very fast. Just imagine having to chop down 20 trees, and that's just the start! After that, you'd have to build a shack or dig a hole for the first night. Then, imagine having to gather materials and then build your huge and magnificent base!

Maybe that just adds to the experience lol. Seriously though, it's meant to be really immersive so you should probably know if you'd be able to play the game.

Absolutely! I think virtual reality is the next to step in gaming and online gaming in particular. Especially getting to control your characters and do the game play actions yourself. I think it would work well with the Minecraft game mechanics as there are a lot of things in the game that can be done with player motion.

VR is horrible in minecraft. Not because VR is horrible, but the blocks and bad textures make your eyes hurt.
I've tried this on my school, where students doing a VR project with custom made glasses (not just 3D, you can also interact with 2 gloves). I've tried this and however I'm usually puke proof, I got really sick. The bad textures which made minecraft successful don't make a great Virtual Reality combo.

I think that would be so cool if Minecraft was virtual reality. Maybe in the future, if that is created, my life would be made. Let's hope technology advances THAT far!

The concept of that does sound awesome, but the moment you ran into a mob like a Skeleton or a Zombie I think that I personally would urinate in my pants out of pure fear.

Minecraft with Oculus Rift would be interesting, but I wonder how that would turn out considering Minecraft has pixelated graphics, how kind would all those vivid and bright colors be to the eye? I would still try it though! There are already some mods that make this possible, as you can see in this video:

I do not pretend to disappoint yourselves, but, in my opinion, it does not have sense. Think about it. When we talk about 'virtual reality' we just think in a life into a game and, usually, this game has the best graphics you have ever seen, or not? I mean, I do not want to live the experience on a game like Minecraft, where the most interesting thing is the simplicity of the same.

People are not mad because OR got sold/passed on, but because Facebook will not support the product in the way it was intended, they WILL use the project to further their own product, which to be honest is not my concern, but I can see where the angry people are coming from.

I think people had their hopes pinned on OR being the next evolution step in gaming, now the only gaming your gonna see is crapville being used on it and paid for football/basketball and whatever ticket seats

Part of the fun of Minecraft for me is exploration. I could only imagine how fun it would be to have VR experience while running around my worlds.

It would be amazing if that happens. I would like to see what Minecraft looks like if you're using Oculus Rift. Too bad I don't have money for that.

Oculus Rift is nothing special at this point. It has a lot of work ahead of itself in order to become anything close to virtual reality. Even Sony's VR project isn't going to reach actual VR status. We're years away from feeling like we're in games, and only then would it be worth playing Minecraft with.
