I feel the same. When I first was able to get there I was super excited to explore. Now I pretty much only go there if I really need materials. The risk of sudden death isn't worth it in my opinion.

Once I entered the nether on low health and got shot by a ghast and died instantly. Probably the most annoying thing that's ever happened on Minecraft

Hahaha, that's happened to me, and I foolishly didn't have any way to restart my portal and was trapped in the nether....

Well, he said that he couldn't restart the portal so I assume he couldn't get out of there without some way to restart it.

So the portal became inactive? and he needed a flint to start it up again? isn't it imposible to destroy a portal unless you remove one of the blocks

Yeah if a Ghast shoots the portal it extinguishes the portal! I didn't have any flint or anything with me to restart the portal, so I was stuck in the Nether :(

Hah! The Nether! Let me tell you this about myself: ever since I played Minecraft, the Nether has creeped me out. Okay, maybe now it doesn't, but back when I started playing it, it was just scary! I wouldn't want to love there, though, because it's too red and boring. The Overworld is much nicer, with better scenery and biome diversity.

I only go there if I need to find a certain something. It's either one of these things: netherwarts, quartz, ghast tears or glowstone. I have never lived in the Nether and never will. Once I go there, my computer starts frying itself. Having your game crash every time you go back home would not be the greatest feeling. And I don't like the fact that I should always have fire resistance on me when going there. Also, you could easily fall to your death from a higher place if you're not careful. I hate the Nether.

Not sure, I'm pretty sure I saw a lets play with someone going to the nether and having to restart it with flint and steel. I might be mis-remembering though, it was a long time ago.

That's actually correct. Your nether portal can get destroyed even if you don't destroy any of the blocks yourself. If a ghast fires into the portal, then you need to light it again because it will go out. The only other way is to die.

The nether is scary...sometimes those purring things start screaming, its always a bit freaky. Plus those ghasts can blow stuff up unless you place special blocks in just the right place. Its just a bad place to be. Get in and get out for me :)

I do not like it at all there, I just mainly go there for the sole purpose of obtaining resources and return to the overworld as soon as I have what I needed, so let alone living there long term. Firstly, the place is not at all pleasing to the eye and looks to warm, making it an unpleasant place to stay for prolonged periods. Also, the place is pretty much monotonous and the generation is just lava and blocks, with some nether fortresses that are largely the same thing over and over, and the worst part is that the place is incredibly hard to manoeuvre with all that lava and overhanging cliffs that kill you with one wrong move. So, I only visit there for my blaze xp farm and other than that I strongly disapprove of living there.

The Nether is the only way to acquire Glowstone, one of the brightest light sources available along with the Jack O' Lantern, and an ingredient in the creation of the only redstone-toggleable light source. It is also the only way to acquire various brewing ingredients, to wit, Netherwart, Ghast Tears, and Blaze Rods. Netharrack, the material the Nether is built out of, will burn indefinitely, unlike wood. Zombie Pigmen, found only in the Nether, are an unlimited source of Gold Nuggets, which can be combined into Gold Ingots. It is also a near-unlimited source of lava.

I never thought of actually trying to live in the Nether, that sounds really cool... but probably very difficult to do in reality.

I have never tried to live there, or even go in there that often. That's minecraft suicide.

Personally, I love how risky the nether is. Go in with all your good items, there is a chance that you'll never come out with them ever again. There are many reasons why the nether is a risky place, the endless amount of lava, the flying ghasts, and you can easily get lost in the nether.

Yeah, but overall it is really fun if you can manage to do so. not many people try and live in the Nether, so you'll be one of the few who has actually conquered the nether if you do manage to live there.

I haven't really LIVED in the nether, but I've set up many bases there. I usually just make a Blaze EXP farm or a couple of Wither spawning pads. It's not that bad, but the mobs like ghasts can be really annoying.

I have a house in each worlds, with a Nether portal on each side. I like it in the Nether as it's a good alternative to the real Minecraft world. If I get too sick of looking at grass, I just go into the Nether. I find the Nether quite cozy.
