I just finished Black Flag. The game looks pretty damn good, and I really enjoyed the open world aspect. It was pretty neat being able to visit a small town, hop in a boat, sail across a sizable body of water and rolling waves, weather a storm, and then just hop right out of your boat in another town without any loading screens (Large towns are unfortunately a bit too hardware intensive for that). Controls felt quite a bit smoother than AC3, and there's so much to do. They made a lot of improvements to the gameplay in general across the board.

Story is nothing special, though. The non-sim part was pretty intriguing, although I'm pretty disappointed that not much really happened to advance the plot.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2... It's an improvement over the first one, but still not so great either. However, I will reserve my judgement until after I've finished the game.

    Arma3 all the way!!

I've had my eye on that game, and considered it when it was on sale on steam, but I passed. I do love ghillie suits and sniping, but the game just looks so..... Meeeh!

The Last Of Us. Well, I haven't exactly been playing it. Watched all FrankieOnPCIn1080p's walkthroughs of the game. Very touching, interesting and strong plot and story.
Been sitting up for about twelve hours, watching all of his reviews with a little sleeping-break in the middle and a dinner-break. Other than that, I've been watching his walkthroughs of the game the whooooole damn day. About twelve hours... Gee....

I'm planning on spending this weekend playing nothing but russian/ukrainian games - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call Of Pripyat (on my way to Pripyat), Metro 2033/Library/, Metro Last Light /Sundown, i LOOOVE every second on the surface in M2033 and MLL/ and Cryostasis. Have you guys played Cyostasis? It's pretty good survival horror FPS/adventure set on a Russian nuclear icebreaker with neat little features like mental echo, warmth for health. It's loosely based on Maxim Gorky's Danko's Flaming Heart (more here and here ). If you haven't i highly recommend it. it has some performance issues, but other than that is bug-and-glitches free. It's a little slow to start, but it has amazing story and the final chapters are jaw dropping.

Looks like you'll be having a hell of a great time!

    Cryostasis <This

I have been trying to find this game for such a long time. I read an article about it in a magazine from the store once and it quickly grabbed my attention. Instead of writing down the title, I trusted my memory and put the magazine back on the rack, and sure enough I forgot it when I got home. I went a back to the store the week after and they had already restocked the rack with new issues. When I read your post, the name Cryostasis sounded familiar but I couldn’t remember from where. Then when I looked it up, I found this screenshot and it was the same exact one from the magazine.

    Thank you Keegan!

Yes, I do remember that you asked me once (back when I bought it during the sale) how the game was. Well, now that I've completed it, I can more or less tell you: fun gameplay, run-of-the-mill story, beautiful environments, very nice graphics, short singleplayer. At the core, the game's mechanics are also much better than that of its predecessor and it has been improved in practically every way. If you like sniping, then that's really all the incentive you need to get it. It's a good game, I'd give it a 7/10, but nothing more than that. However, if you really love sniping, then it might just click for you as something more. Nevertheless, if you'd still like to get it someday, I'd suggest waiting for another sale. :)

    RE: Cryostasis
I've been wanting to play that game for ages now and I bought it during my holiday in Poland last summer. I think I might actually start playing it today, now that yous reminded me of it.

Tom Clancy stories are pretty by-the-book typically, I'm somewhat impressed they got a moderately convincing villain in there that isn't Russia or Turrurists.

I....never played the previous games, but really liked this one. I'd say it's a 30-40 dollar purchase at best (like AC4), but I feel like I got my imaginary money's worth (free with Video Card).

Not really Japan (a close US ally) and ROSK (ditto) are regular villains Also books released after the cold war ended show Russia as a close ally

I cant believe i did it but i bought Aliens colonial Marines THE HORROR!!!

I guess the last TC game I played was Future Soldier, where it was Russian Extremists...which I guess gets filed back under terrorists.

I only read Patriot Games, Rainbow Six, and Hunt for Red October, but the books and games do seem to have a good degree of disconnect.

They just seemed to be in a different writing style. It's been a while since I read his books, but he generally had a more mature outlook on things, and really tended to flesh out both sides in conflicts from what I remember. One book I started but never got around to finishing had at least one or two chapters at the beginning detailing the life of a character who spent his time using a Javelin to shoot down American helicopters in the Middle East. Characters set in opposition towards each other usually seemed to be human, the victims of political struggle, instead of legitimate blind unfiltered malice or bigotry.

Shooting games really don't work well anyways though with that sort of writing style; these days, the public seems to demand waves of enemies for us to remorselessly mow down with a Heli-mounted minigun. It's much easier to build a black and white villain and build conflict and resolution simply out of the person/group's atrocities.

TL : DR His name has only ever really been used as a sort of branding.

The book was cardinal of the kremlin

I kinda disagree with that after reading executive orders and rainbow six both sides are still fleshed out
