Haven't had a single crash yet, but for half of a day I couldn't join or host any games at all (therefore rendering the game unplayable) - had to restart Steam 5 or 6 times to get it working. After a little update, the spring break one I believe, that problem seems to be gone. Another annoying little issue is not being able to see any sessions when browsing, which still happens from time to time. Moreover, one huge glitch that made it impossible to see what's going on and forced me to restart the game a couple of times happened at one point. Last but not least, this isn't really a bug but questionable design choice: the invisible walls (most of them are placed appropriately, but a fair few make no sense and are too easy to access for the player, making things confusing... it's not an issue once I learn a map well, but still).

Nah, game hooked me in instantly. Clocked 21 hours in it just during this free weekend. Got it today. :)

Well, not really, it's only like that during the sale, but I heard it gets discounted quite often so it makes little difference. :p

Nice! I mostly played with my brother and two friends, very occasionally with strangers as communication is obviously key here.

I agree with the rest of your post, it's a good deal for sure.

Yeah, that's a weird bug that strikes me too every once in a while, usually when starting the game up. Usually running any kind of mission or restarting the game seems to help; since whenever it builds a random cache of 15-or-so online lobbies, it doesn't really do a good job keeping track of them, so if a good number of them close or quit, then it pretty much falls apart. Hosting your own lobby is a slightly slower but much more reliable way to gather a group.

And I'll have to play with you some time.

    Ok, thanks for explaining it.

Aye, I'd be glad to team up sometime.

Nice. I hate it when games have exploits like that, makes the whole thing kinda pointless.

 Good stuff and congrats. I didn't read the title until after I finished watching it; and, when I did, it just made the video much more meaningful and amusing. Funny to know that you manged to surpass everyone else's rank, in the game, without ever needing to kill another player .

  7. I didn't surpass anyone, everyone can reach the top rank.

I just didn't have to try very hard. Or at all :)

I started playing a post-apocalyptic zombie game called 7 Days to Die. I just bought it yesterday, off of steam (holy cow, my first online steam purchase ) due to several recommendations from friends. There were also a lot of review, on steam, saying it was a pretty great game. My only problem with it is that I can't get it to work properly. Minimum requirements request 4Gb of RAM, I myself still run all my games off of 2GB of RAM. The game will work for only a while; but, eventually it crashes with an error of "Too many heap sections." Well, perhaps the game will become better optimized once it leaves alpha and I'll be able to run it, normally, on 2GB of RAM :eek:hwell:

  9. Yeah. You could try hosting a smaller world through the custom menu though.

Well, it sucks to have to use money on upgrading your PC, but if a game runs well on 4GBs of RAM, I'd say it's optimized well enough. I'm not gonna say this out too loud, but I do believe more people have 4GB ram today than 2GB. And still, 6 and 8 is still pretty normal, at least for gamer-PCs. (I've got 8GB! :whoo:)

It doesn't appear to allow me to choose what exact size I can make a map. There are only two options: An already, pre-made map called Navezgane and a random generated map (which, apparently, will spit out a map with no physical boundaries). Anyway, both styles of map conjure the same problem, and that's just when I try to play it in SP. There is also the option to join another server, but I get the same problem there as well. Finally, there is the "Custom World" option, but when I click on it, it says that it is currently unavailable, to everyone, until the next update.

Shoo, you! You've said too much. JK :p
I agree, most people do have 4GB of ram vs 2GB. It's become the new standard. I'd say I probably have the one of the oldest computer set ups, here on the forum.

About 550 GB of hardrive space (I wish that 550GB could be on a solid-state drive)
    2GB RAM
    AMD 5870 (1GB)
    Motherboard (who cares)
    Window XP 32-bit
    DirectX 9
    Dual-Core AMD Opteron 185 2.9 GHz CPU
Sound Card (not important when it comes to display)
65 Lbs (29.5 Kg) CRT monitor. Lowest res: 640x480 Highest res: 1600x1200. I enjoy having black colors displayed in "true black," even if that requires a hulk of a monitor and having my eyes get ruined by the photons that it emits.

Yes, and you lucky folks who have Windows 7 and above will apparently get a free update, to Windows 10, when it comes out. DirectX 12 is suppose to come with it too. Only reason I'm still on XP is because it works, and it works good. Soon, though, I'll have to upgrade since more and more games are now requiring that you have Vista, or higher, in order to play them.

Windows 8.1 is actually not so bad (it is a bit faster and improved over previous versions, but the Metro UI still sucks though thankfully I can just boot straight to desktop so I never have to look at it anymore). Windows XP was probably the best for its time and most long-lived of their OSs thus far, but it has become very outdated mostly due to Microsoft themselves. I think I'll wait as long as I can before upgrading to Windows 10 (I think they'll give us a year to upgrade for free) in case it turns out to be another flop like Vista and Windows 8 were at first.

Nuke your is actually a bit better than the one I upgraded from two years ago, but even that one had 3GB of RAM. That's probably gonna be the biggest barrier for a lot of games.

Also, Payday 2's April Fool's Joke: The "Collector Pack."

Saw this in the Steam feed, but haven't played the game today - does it actually feature a "pokécube" or is that just an edited gif?

I've used windows 8, before, at my school, and it's quite nice. Though, it was only to do basic things like search the web.

Yep, that how much time they say they'll give you. Though, I'm not sure if they mean that you'll get to keep the update, to Win10, afterward and forever, or if the Win10 update is only good for one year after you've upgraded.

    :)

One last thing. I can't remember where I had read it, but DirectX's once major competitor, OpenGL, is suppose to make a comeback with a new project when DirectX 12 comes out (or sometime around there).

GTA V's a good port. Looks nice, runs well, solid port. One of the better and most informative Graphics options menus I've seen, the VRAM usage chart is a godsend in this day and age.

  19. A decent positive review. Let me ballance it out by a negative one:

It really isn't a good port. It's anything but.

It looks worse on my end when maxed than the footage from xbox I watched on YouTube. Of course it's unplayable, but at least it looks half decent.

Right now all the settings are on minimum (The game automatically suggested me to use 800x600 resolution), all the drivers are up to date, even the one from NVidia that specifically says "GTA5", but the performance is awful. The moment I turn the camera around, I assume it starts streaming textures and it just freezes for five to ten seconds at a time. Empty void with bushes and trees hanging in the air, buildings and cars popping out of nowhere five feet away from you like it's Vice City on Pentium 1. At points it's worse than GTAIV. When a shopkeeper in the tutorial pulled out a rifle the game decided to try real hard to load the new model that appeared on the screen freezing my game and killing me as a result as I stood there like an idiot unable to do anything while he shot me.

Social Club won't let me log in. If it does, it won't show me as online. If it does, I can't see any invites. If I do see them, I can't connect. I've spent over 9 hours trying to fix connection and graphical issues, trying every suggestion I could dig up, and I just give up. If they don't fix it in a few days I might as well delete it and come back in a few years. Or never.

They've reportedly spent 2 years polishing and preparing it for the grand release on PC, but it doesn't look like it. I said I didn't want it, I said it's automatically shit because even though GTA started on PC consoles are apparently more important and I was going to vote with my wallet on it. But someone gifted it to me. Well, they wasted their money and I'm "enjoying" my confirmation bias.
