I would like to eventually finish my massive city and make it perfect then I would probably end up trying to kill the ender dragon to beat the game, then I don't know what I would do

I just run around and do stuff aimlessly. I find Minecraft to be the exact opposite of a goal oriented game.

    It's like a list.

    Find Diamonds
    Mine obsidian
    Make enchantment table
    Make Anvil
    Make sugarcane farm
    Make books
    Enchant books
    Enchant armor, swords, and tools.
    Go to nether
    Get blaze rods
    Make brewing stands
    Make potions
    Find end portal
    Kill ender dragon
    Back to Nether
    Kill Wither

Too bad I never get passed the make anvil point too much xD

I prefer surviving in Minecraft rather than building large, intricate cities (as far as goals go). I'll do either depending upon how I feel that day. You can make Minecraft be whatever you want it to, and that's the best feature of the game. My biggest goal is always surviving.

I don't really have any goal in playing Minecraft.
For me, It is just a game that helps e relax and relieve my pressure that comes from my school works.
I just want to build my dream world in Minecraft, and that's my goal!!

That's really the way to play the game. No joke.

Minecraft is one of my favorite games of all time. My main goals never changed much through my game time, and I will list them here.
-Get good equipment quickly: First thing I did when I spawn in is grab a bunch of wood and head to the mines.
-When I was well equipped, I made a base I could call a home and set up camp there. Mine in between farming, and XP grinding.
-When my home and gear was set, I made way to the Nether, and got all necessary things from this hell-world.
-Fight the Ender dragon - Self explanatory.
-Gather up resources to take on the Wither(If I felt particularly lucky, I'd take on two or three).
-Messed around in my world with redstone or building.

    Take over the world!

I usually try to find a nice area, filled with mountains and maybe a few ravines; I then make a giant castle, usually with 5 floors or more, and then go out to look for diamonds! I eventually build a farm, be it sheep, cows, pigs (usually of the them haha) and then when I'm done with all those goals, I start a new world (usually a month later).

Well since I play the game with a lot of mods that add different types of wood, I try to explore and find all the different biomes so I can collect a sample of their sapplings. I then go back and create a massive forest with all the different types of trees. Except Sacred Oak, screw Sacred Oak.

I don't really have any main goals in Minecraft any more. that's because I did pretty much everything by now that you can actually do in Minecraft, so I just play with mods installed because what else would I do for fun?

My only goal in minecraft is to build beautiful and large castles filled with hidden rooms and traps. I like to make one main castle that looks like a generic boring, but pretty castle. When you hit the right switches in various hidden places it will lead you underground to an old abandon room. Past that will be a new underground and fancier house. However, if you find the right hidden things and push them in the correct order, you go even farther underground and to different locations on the map. Sometimes it leads you to the little island that a crazy cat lady once lived on. Sometimes it leads you to an underground dome where you can view the plant life. Sometimes you just get surrounded by a wall of lava and then dropped in a pit of creepers. There's other things, but those are my most recent.

I was always messing up with redstone, that's why I was trying to build some auto-machines, farms etc. and I did. I remember that I invented a new type of connection, faster than redstone - strings. I did a lot posts and really long connection between two points at the map. Next goal was to build an electrical network at the village and manage it at my "control room". It was fantastic, but it took me a lot of time.

My main goal on Minecraft these days are to just make my friends made hahaha. I enjoy messing with my friends when they aren't paying attention or are afk. The game itself has been very repetitive lately and it's boring for me now.

I agree with you because setting goals may be arbitrary because the game keeps going on and on just as you rightly mentioned.

I have no real main goal in Minecraft except for enjoying myself. What I do to achieve this is play on servers with my mates, maybe build a house or a village or a caste. Possibly dabble in some creative and create a giant build of epic proportions. I also enjoy tinkering with redstone and command blocks to create some devilish contraptions or some things that are just plain cool. I also enjoy making mini-game maps and adventure maps.

One of my goals on Minecraft is to eventually live in a big house. As in, when I'm starting off my house is usually small, and eventually I want to upgrade it to a huge house (mansion size) with auto-harvest on the crops, and a ton of animals. Not really a BIG goal, but it's a good milestone.

My goal is the point where I have a large base which is fully protected by stationary defenses. I feel like an absolute boss when I am that point as I can walk around my base without ever being scared of anyone attacking me or a creeper exploding in my face.
