What is happening with Russia and Ukraine now?

  1. Nalivaichenko, a head of the Security Service of Ukraine says that bandits in Donbass dress up in Ukrainian Army uniform, then drink, kill and steal to discredit the armed forces of Ukraine.

  2. Ukraine will receive a party of HMMWV armored cars on the 25th of March. I wonder how quickly they will end up in the rebel hands.

  3. Stratfor has published several potential scenarios that can happen in Ukraine if and when the Minsk II fails:

Interestingly enough they estimate that the "fifth most powerful army on the continent" (Poroshenko) is going to be wiped out in about a week or two.

I have an online friend who lives in Dnipropetrovsk, but I haven't heard anything from him in a while... I hope he gets out before shit hits the fan there. :(

  5. Ukrainian military jets flying over Dnepropetrovsk. If you remember, same shit happened last year over Luhansk and Donetsk. They want to scare the civilians. Might even bomb something and then claim it was an air conditioner:

  6. Prime Minister Yatseniuk said that NATO membership for Ukraine is postponed.

  7. An update to the previous post:

  8. Recent Germanwings Airbus A320 crash investigation was finished within days. Meanwhile MH-17 investigation is still nowhere close to an end.

Looks like the investigators are simply not interested in the end result.

I'm going to repeat myself here: Why is the supposed mass murderer the only one urging the investigation? If you kept an eye on United Nations sessions, RF representative is the only one asking about it, while UK and US delegations smirk and look annoyed. Why did the rebels surrender the flight recorders with evidence to the United Kingdom if they could have simply destroyed them? They have nothing to be afraid of? If Russia did it, wouldn't Russia want to stall the investigation for as long as possible instead of urging to complete it? Why is Europe the one slowing it down?

  9. Legitimately elected president of Yemen, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, was deposed in a coup and fled the country. Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes against the Houthi rebels and are planning a ground operation, saying that they can't have this shit on their borders and that the power must be returned to the president, while United Nations and the US fully support that. No sanctions were imposed on Saudis when they bombed a neighbouring country without asking anyone.

Meanwhile the legitimately elected president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, was deposed in a coup and fled the country last year, while United nations and the US say it's fine, because he clearly was a pro-Putin tyrant. Also sanctions.

The double standard is strong with this one.

EDIT: Here is a map if you are not familiar:

  10. Operation Dragoon Ride in Europe, but mostly in Poland, Estonia and Lithuania. It is supposed to be a show of power and unity of NATO, which is funny in hindsight because only USA participated in it. At least the cars are clean and shiny, that's going to impress some of the baltics, which have armies smaller than this convoy. It's also weird that they decided to drive them on roads, as opposed to transporting them on trains or planes:

Yep, heard about this a few days ago. The NATO occupation is complete, eh? :p

  12. It's kind of pathetic, actually. I assume they are going to leave these weapons and vehicles behind, using training as a pretense to deliver arms. Other than this I see no reason for them to do this, even then this is not going to change the outcome if shit goes down. NATO estimates Russia has what, 50k people on the border just with Ukraine as well as nukes and whatnot in Kaliningrad and Crimea that can cover all of former Baltics and more. A dozen APCs are not going to do anything, but at least they will impress the civilians and won't ruin the road pavement, and I assume that was the plan.

What I dislike about it is the official message. When Russia does scheduled exercises on its own territory, it's a provocation, even if it's in the middle of Siberia. When US of A rides across eastern Europe because it wants to, it's nothing special.

What I do like is the general reaction of the public abroad. Western European countries deciding to join the Chinese bank made more headlines than this teeny tiny saber rattling.

Well, I fucking hate NATO and this another reason for that. USA occupies half of Europe discreetly. When Russia does it, at least they don't fuck about and they get straight to the political purges and shit.

  17. OSCE reports UA army bombs Shirokino:

Earlier this week, Aidar batallion filmed themselves firing grenades at the village for fun.

No wonder they are being treated agressively, DPR reports the shelling only stops when OSCE comes over once a week for 15 minutes and resumes when they leave, while OSCE reports that no shelling took place. Moreover, over the past year OSCE has been chronically under-reporting the damage done to Donetsk and Luhansk by UA armed forces, so it's no surprise the DPR and LPR forces don't trust them.

  18. Kharkiv partisans report that Ukrainian army is getting ready to shell Kharkiv suburbs if it rebels, listing locations with recent arrivals of heavy artillery vehicles and their crews in the nearby villages.

  20. Crowds booing "Anti-Terrorist Operation heroes" and Ukrainian government representatives in Nikolaev, chanting "Shame!", "Murderers!" and "Faschist bastards!" during a memorial service commemorating 71st year after the city was freed from the Wehrmacht forces during WW2:
