I agree cows are more useful and easier to tend than the chickens. The leather seems more of an asset to me than eggs and feathers. I am strictly steak all the way.

    Roleplaying a sheepherder I see! :)
I had never thought of that, it sounds like it could be a lot of fun, definitely relaxing.

I'd say cows, because you get lots of food from them, but you can also use their leather for simple armor. Chickens are useful too, because of arrows, but I still think cows are more useful. Sheeps are only useful in the beginning and there's nothing pigs can do, that cows can't do.

I think, if you could only have one, the cow is the most useful because you can get food and leather to make armor. I don't understand why people would pick an animal that would only drop 1 item. Chickens are good, too. You can make arrows and still have food, but cows FTW!

I think chickens because you can make a lot of them to be used as food, or used for feathers to make arrows. All you have to do is make a little farm and collect the eggs, you don't have to bother with wheat to mate.

It is! Get a nice texture pack, with appropriate shaders. Then find some nice flat terrain, then enjoy the sunset ;)

I'd say cows are most useful at first for leather and a steady supply of food, but later on I think chickens are far more useful considering the amount of resources they provide. But it all comes down to personal preference really, and then there's no reason to not just have both.

Yeah, why not both? you get more kinds of items and your farm isn't just full of chickens that go "cluck cluck cluck".

I would have to say sheep! Sheep were underrated, but it is all changing now, with the new snapshot! With the introduction of mutton, you can get both wool and food from them, making them even more useful. I enjoy having a rainbow herd of sheep roaming around my garden :)

If it was in abundant resource, pigs would definitely be the case for me. Pork chops are just so good in restoring your hunger back to full, but they're a bit expensive in terms of getting them. Pigs aren't so easy getting a hold of because of the way they're made to spawn.

I prefer to have a cow farm because they also drop leather along with their beefy goodness. It's good to have that for some light armor and to use them in other recipes too. It's really easy to find and breed them as well.

I'd say sheep, but I might be a bit biased in that fact because one of the first thing I do on any new world is make a sheep farm so I can have all the wool I need for my home(s).

Wool is easily one of the most useful blocks in the game for me when it comes to designing.

I like cows the most, leather and meat. Iron's generally easy to get but sometimes you can't find any and have to resort to leather armor.

Cows are good for the long-term, and chickens are good for arrows. I'd say that I am much more happy to see a cow than I am to see a chicken, so I'd say cow.

Cows are the best in my opinion. They provide leather which is helpful with enchanting or having armor early on. They give steak as well, which fills a lot of your hunger bar, making you eat less. They're really easy to breed as well, and mooshroom cows are amazing as well.

The chicken is the most useful animal in survival because you can make a chicken from only 1 chicken, so you don't have to find 2, and it is easy to just collect the eggs every once in awhile, so you don't have to use food to get more chickens. Feathers are also great for bows, which are basically the best weapon in the game. The chicken gives 3 resources, feathers, food, and eggs, more than any other animal in Minecraft I think.

Cows, and chicken are the best. Eggs, milk, and meat are super helpful for stockpiling food. And with a nearby wheat farm, you can have tons of it. You can also get feathers and leather, which aren't as useful but are nice. The only drawback is the horrid noise of keeping many animals.

Chickens are most useful later, but at first, to survive I'd say cows because they give a lot of food, and leather which can be used to make day 1 armor.

I like chickens because they have my favorite meat to carry around, and they drop eggs/feathers. You really can't beat the versatility of that animal.

Either chickens, pigs, or cows. Chickens drop feathers which are used for arrows and drop eggs in order to double the amount of chickens you have. They're good food as well. Pigs drop steak which is probably the best type of food in my Minecraft. Cows drop leather and beef and leather may become essential to armor/other items.

Cows are the best. You get leather and meat. Good for making armors and other stuff.
