    I don't think that cobblestone looks really good in any home. For the most part, smooth stone is how you use cobblestone in a house. I think that cobblestone looks really ugly unless you're rocking a really nice texture pack.

    If protecting myself from other players I'll go with obsidian, although I'm not a fan of creative-mode and mining it in survival is a little tedious. Otherwise, I'm a dirt kind of guy. Easy to amass, easy to take down, easy all round.

    I really enjoy the birch wood in minecraft. I really like the pale look of the wood. It just really is easy on the eyes and really looks a lot better than the regular oak wood in my opinion. I always search for those trees as soon as I spawn into a world to make myself a home.

    Accacia wood (not planks) is easily my favorite building block. A nice, gray texture that fits in a lot of my projects. I also like the Emerald block.

    I really like circle stone because of it's trippy design. I remember this as one of my best Minecraft rooms, I built a really trippy looking room with explosive colors made out of dyed material.
