I want a really big environment or any game that has huge maps. I'm a big fan of the steam punk genre so games like Black Gold online is a big hit for me.

Something with a lot of interactive parts and back allies and such. Preferably something with humans, but I don't like firepower all that much.

Ancient times can be extremely difficult to pull off, but are extremely rewarding when done right.

Honestly, I don't have a set preference and single, well-defined favourite, because as long as the setting fits the game well, I'll probably like it. I often play games based in high fantasy worlds--monsters, magic, the lot, and when done right, they're amazing, and very captivating. But futuristic worlds, as well as post-apocalyptic worlds, can also be very immersive--I suppose I've just found less of those in the MMORPGs I've played. Additionally, I'm fond of medieval or ancient worlds/settings, too--without magic, but sometimes with martial arts and sword play, or other sword/dagger/staff/non-magical weapon based settings.

I tend to prefer past or the future. I don't really find it fun to play in a modern environment simply because it's something you experience everyday. The past of future is more fun because then you get to experience something that you don't often experience in your everyday life.

I personally love the extra races and expansiveness of the game. I love to create my own character.

I like expansive worlds with lots of fields and pretty scenery. Of course, I'm also rather a fan of 2d sidescroller worlds but their very limited and there aren't that many left now-in-days. It's rather unfortunate because 2d dungeons are actually quite interesting in how they try to do the background in order to immerse the player.

I like a fantasy world. That's why lord of the rings appeals to me so much.

I like futuristic scenarios, so I will have to go with the "future" choice. Fantasy isn't that appealing to me, although it could also be considered some kind of future, but more like an alternative present to our world.

Something with a bit of everything. Honestly, "Harry Potter" world + "Sword Art Online" would be cool.. MINUS the dying.

Honestly I'm not too picky about the setting as long as it's well-realized. It's true that there are a lot of fantasy MMOs, and I feel like the genre has kind of a reputation for being... monotonous. But I like any setting as long as it actually feels like an interesting place. Right now I'm pretty fond of Aion's setting. It's a fantasy game with only really one playable race (though it does differ somewhat depending on what faction you pick) but the world is absolutely gorgeous. It has a lot of interesting lore, and the mechanics might be fairly standard but they're done well enough and have some fun twists like being able to fly in certain zones.

Of course I'm still pretty low level so it could turn into a boring mess later on.

I used to be really into Vindictus' world too but I feel like Nexon strayed too far from what made it compelling to me. Or maybe their vision for the game only aligned with mine for a brief period of time... who knows. :)

Aoin? I'm going to have to check that out. One major advantage to living in my house, if I buy a game and i don't like it there's always someone else who WILL like it
