The very first MMORPG I ever played was WoW and if it wasn't existed I would have probably started my MMORPG career way after that and possibly I would have started playing when Aion came to EU.

I don't think that the existence or non-existence of WoW should be a prerequisite to playing other games. WoW, isn't original, isn't biggest (contrary to popular belief), and isn't the best. WoW is the fast food of the MMORPG business.

I played Dragon Nest briefly and it kind of had a WoW feel to it, but I kind of left the game after a while. I may pick it up soon though, it was really fun! :D

I'd probably go back to Eve Online. I really enjoyed my brief stint. However, I could keep up paying for WoW and Eve. So, I chose WoW because I'd been playing it longer. However, now that I purchase my WoW subscription with in game gold, I may resub to Eve. I'd also consider trying GWII since it is now free to play.

Instead of never existing, because that would bring me down a totally different path and instead say Blizzard suddenly pulled the plug on WoW, I would probably spend more time on Elder Scrolls Online. It's a game I got for super cheap last month and it's free to play. Plus, I got a cute monkey pet for being a Beta Tester last year. I might also give EVE Online another shot. Also Star Wars The Old Republic comes to mind too.

I personally would play Guild Wars 2. It's a great game and has lots of content and features so it would never get boring. You only have to pay once and get access to the entire game. It's a great and I wish I had more time to fully enjoy it.

Toughie between Old School Runescape (Nostalgia!) and Rift. OSRS just because of how much I loved it growing up and Rift because well, it's exactly like WoW with beautiful graphics.

I a really big list, for sure. I would probably play Wildstar, Rift or Star Wars: The Old Republic. These three are all great free to play MMO games that are a good alternative to WoW with similar gameplay.

I wouldn't mind the other free to play MMOs if not for the fact that the action playstyle for GW2 destroyed any desire to go back to the old way of playing.

The thing is, WoW's existance doesn't have any bearing on wether or not I play other MMOs so I'm not sure how to answer that. WoW isn't the biggest contrary to popular belief and it isn't even all that original either.

Ignoring the effects WoW had on the MMORPG genre and what the market could potentially look like if it never existed, I'd definitely be playing Final Fantasy 14 right now.
