My favorite material is obsidian. It's hard to destroy, and it's good for faction and PVP servers. Also the creepers can't destroy it.
I use it in multiplayer, it protected us a lot from enemy faction players and raids, that even TNT can't destroy it!

I love to use stone when I'm building my castle, but I also combine it with wood while building a village. It's a very fun thing to do.

Smooth stone and wood go very good together so that is my most common combination. Usually the walls smooth stone with the floors wood.

Wool. I know it's super flammable, but I just like the color combinations that are available for it. That is probably why I have a lot of very cute little houses that catch on fire any time a creeper gets near them.

My favorite material would have to be smooth stone. It just looks so nice and sleek. I once used smooth stone to create a whole castle and the finished product looked so awesome.

Wooden Planks. I don't know why, but it looks the best to me out of any other material. And also because of it's simplicity to get. A second would be smooth stone, but wooden planks top the list.

My favorite material has to be wood, just because of the reliability of finding it as well as the various items you can craft with it. On average I will always carry a full stack of wooden blocks with me just in case I want to set up camp for the night. The wooden weapons and equipment are good enough to start you off as well to find other rare materials.

I actually like cobblestone a lot. For whatever reason, I really like to build my houses out of your basic wood and cobblestone. I think it gives it a really homey and lived in look. I also get really excited when I find diamond as most of you probably do too.

My favorite material is red-stone blocks! The red-stone blocks are an amazing decorative piece! And they also are great color-fillers for when you want to put color into something! They are also very easy to get!

Personally my favorite is the DiamondAxe, I'm not really sure why but I love it. My second favorite would for sure be the the shovel to hit chickens with. All the other favorite above are really cook as well, I'll definitely look into liking some of those as my favorites.

    ... Those aren't materials.

Anyway, I love diamond blocks because when I break it, I can craft it into more diamonds! Yay diamonds! :D

Diamond is probably my favorite for a similar reason. Whenever someone in my group of friends gets diamond everyone else pretty much gets jealous lol and wishes they had some themself. Also, of course diamond is really hard to break as well so that's also a plus!

I'm actually tend to put certain materials for certain things.
    Bricks go to the farmhouse
Jungle Wood builds the bakery (so that we can harvest cocoa beans on the walls)
Stone is for the upper levels of a castle
Mossy Stone is for any stone that touches water

etc etc etc... I'm a bit anal about it, honestly.

That is awesome, I never thought about using the mossy stone for any stone that is near water, I am gonna add that in my Minecraft bucket list for sure.

I think I just like the solid granite stone to be honest. Eventually I'm thinking of switching into making a pure iron fortress at least in some areas, and then perhaps adding obsidian for a nice touch. I think silver and black looks pretty good together.

Besides that its nice to have variety. I'll definitely keep a nice grassy garden area at the top of my fort with a few trees and stuff like that, plus my waterfall. But the foundation is always stone or different varieties of stone.

I like using obsidian. It's really strong and can hold up to some brutal attacks. No one can destroy it unless they already have a set of diamond tools. The bad thing is you need a ton to build a fortress but it's totally worth it.

Ugh I hate obsidian! It takes ages to mine it, but first you need to look for lava. Too time consuming for me!

My favourite material is wood because you can get it in different colours and you can make everything out of it. Also it's fast and easy to grow
