I like the stone bricks. They look very good and they match with almost everything especially with oak wood. I really like building with stone bricks because whatever you make it always looks nice and elegant.

Wood, you can pretty much build anything with it (well, not really but kind of).

I love building with wood. I don't know man there's wood materials have a certain appeal to me especially when building a treehouse. As for the tools, I would definitely go for diamonds, thing is tough to find though.

    Diamond for weapon/tool durability.

Wood for building, it is literally everywhere.

Stone/Cobblestone for creating a solid home.

    And wool for fancy stuff.

I love using stone above everything else, it's just so abundant and convenient that I'm using it all the time.
For tools I use diamond of course, but just out of necessity.

My favorite material is probably leather. The main reason is that I love killing cows. I also like the way that you can dye leather armor to whatever color you want, which makes them look snazzy and cool. It's really useful for multiplayer games because you can easily identify teams then.

Haha, you like to kill cows in Minecraft? What do you like to do with all your leather after dying it?

Pretty much the same standard I use as well. I like trying to find new ways to take advantage of building with wood in new places. Diamonds are also the best for weapons, but I do struggle to find enough to create weapons and armor.

Dig deep inside caves and there is a chance that you'll end up in a nice diamond deposit. And yeah IMO diamonds are the best material for items.

Wood is great for basic structures and home defence. You could also use it for tools if badly needed.

Wood is pretty awesome and very versatile. I think we all start out using it for basic things combined with the infinite amount of cobblestone.

To be honest I would say cobblestone though. Its just more solid for shelter use, and it can be used to make all the tools and weapons you'll need and they actually work fairly well for such an early game item. Plus it can be smelted into two other forms if you want a nicer looking wall. The side benefit is that in mining cobblestone you almost always get some other things, and you don't have to wait for anything to grow.

I really like the birch wood. I think it has a nice, light color and is helpful for creating houses that look sleek and modern. Since it's still wood, it's easy to gather and has a nice sound when you walk on it. You can also make a ton of stuff with it: slabs, stairs, etc.

Building structures etc: Smooth-/Cobblestone (last one for quick structures) and Wood. For equipment I usually choose iron because of it's availability.

I like building my underground bases using different kinds of material, like stone, wood, and even cobblestone. However, the most beautiful material in the game for building, in my opinion, is stone bricks.

Hmm, I think I really do like dark wood. I like using raw wood for the edges of my buildings and for certain details. I usually build the rest of the house with planks. Using the top of wood also looks very nice for floors.

Then, my second favorite is probably glass. It's almost always a great addition to a house.

Raw wood is my favorite material for home building. The texture always gives a unique look. I think it makes and excellent flooring as well. Can't beat hardwood floors!

Stone brick, oh god the amount of castles I built with these magnificent brick's. If I recall, my last castle took enough stone bricks to make my world stone-less almost. Plus they look pretty cool and solid compared to cobblestone. If I had an entire inventory filled with stone brick's I would make a fortress that has layered walls to stop creepers.
