Well, I have an obsession with iron blocks. They are really cute for me, I just build everything using them with some gold blocks. I think that these blocks are really clean and we can do better locking structures. However, it could also be really expensive if you've to build big structures.

I'd probably say stone, there's a lot of it to be used up.

Mine would have to be leaves of any type. It may not seem useful and can only be obtained with shears or an enchanted tool with silk touch, it is extremely decorative when paired with glowstone and birch wood. Nothing beats the natural like atmosphere set by glowstone beneath a pillar of leaves, with a background made of birch wood. It definitely suits my design preferences very well. You should definitely try building with leaves, you might be surprised how much of a difference it can make to your structures.

I really have a thing for Birch wood or Sandstone, I just love the way it looks with the texture pack I am using. Most texture packs seem to make sure these two materials are well made.

If I am on a server with a bunch of people though, I will just stick to Sandstone, rather not come home to my house being on fire as a bunch of tools like to do.

I miss that type of blocks. I think they could blend well with my iron/gold blocks.

My favorite material is the iron block, you can make buildings that look futuristic with it, it looks very elegant and nice. Build something with iron blocks and any color of wool blocks and you have got the most royal looking thing in Minecraft. :p

I really like building with hardened clay. To be specific, colored harden clay. Clay is such a versatile block because first of all, it looks great, and second of all, you can change it up by adding dye to it. There's so many possible builds with clay! With blocks like cobblestone, you're really limited to the color gray. Clay is definitely the best for building in my opinion, simply because of the variety in colors available for use.

I actually really like the huge mushroom blocks. Not very easy to use for building but I just like how it looks.

Most people are probably gonna kill me for not saying diamond haha. I'm definitely an iron man, and a pun man as you can see.

There are tones of cool things you can do with it. I'm a big fan of railroads and lighting stuff on fire with the flint and steel.

I prefer to use wood for building houses. I rarely use stones for buildings. And Iron or diamond on tools and weapons.

Yeah, I prefer using some basic stone. It looks good and is easy enough to come by.

Pretty much what works with my buildings I guess. But for the most part I reach for the materials that are easy to access so it's going to be bricks, woods and possibly dirt.

All kinds of stones really. That's my pick. Diamonds are pretty rad too though. I prefer to build buildings like castles and such.

I think my favorite would have to be wood. I prefer the dark oak, out of all the different types of wood.. Lighter colors just don't appeal to me when building anymore. But second to that, would definitely be stone bricks.

My favorite would be redstone because there is so much potential within what you can create with redstone. But for building, I like to use logs to create a nice effect around the rim of my houses. I also quite like glowstone under certain texture packs as it looks awesome!

I've always preferred wood homes to stone. I feel that the wood gives the building a little extra dimension. Stone just looks too rustic to me. However, it does depend on the project. Stone is preferred over wood for steps, small things I usually prefer in stone.

My favorite material are wooden planks. I can design so many things with just wooden planks. Also Wooden planks help make a simple modern looking roof.

Stone, cobblestone, glass and earth since its so much of it.
Stone looks very aweasome with graphics mods like the 256 bit hd graphic mod that I had some time ago and it was incredible.
