I guess it depends is if all you play are MMO's me personally I play a wide verity of games so I probably can stand more repetition then someone that only plays MMO's or RPG's.

I realized that I had to stop playing WoW when I'd connect and then proceed to do nothing for the next 2 or 3 hours. I was basically playing out or routine and I wasn't enjoying the game at all.
I'd say that's the point when it'd be better to stop playing.

I usually stop playing a game when I stop having fun with it, and this goes to MMORPG's as well. I play games to have fun, so if the game starts to get boring and repetitive, I just quit it.

Like any game, you should only really play if you're having fun. That's when I stop playing any game as well, when I stop having fun. I might just take a break and play again later or the next day but when I really stop having fun playing the game then it's time to quit and move on.

When an MMO is no longer fun and interferes with real life events is when you know it's time to quit.

For me, it's when things in the game begin to become a chore. That you HAVE to get your arena cap done or you HAVE to do LFR to max Valor cap. Or when you play a game for one aspect (like arena) and even that begins to become a chore to play. That's when you know you really aren't having any fun with the game anymore and should probably stop playing

For me it's all about interest. If I lose even the slightest interested in a game I just stop playing untill a new expansion comes out usually :p
Fun is a factor as well. Like thejamal said when things begin to feel like a chore instead of being fun to do that's when I think it's time to move along.

I'll stop when I get bored with it. When I feel that there's nothing more to discover or see I'll stop. I'll also stop if I find myself spending too much time playing it and start to neglect other things.

You should end it when you feel you have achieved a high level in the game. For example, if you were to take Runescape into the context you should stop playing once you've maxed out, gotten billions and done a lot of pvp to your heart's content.

The purpose of MMO's are to hook players up quickly and since they never end, it adds to the addiction. But I think we can all feel when we should stop playing MMO's once we reach a certain point in the game.

Generally you give up when you aren't having fun anymore. MMOs can be difficult to quit though, they are designed to keep you playing for as long as possible. Ask yourself these questions:

    • Are you getting very angry as you play?
    • Do you find yourself being mean to others as you play?
    • Do you feel like you have a duty or an obligation to play?
    • Do you feel like you are grinding or toiling away for some future reward?
If you answered yes to these questions, maybe it's time to quit. These are qualities of a crappy job, not a game you should be playing for fun?

When you can do nothing but stop playing the game. When every thought you have is 'When do I get to play again?' When you do nothing else, but play WOW/Guild Wars for days. I love them, but I have to stop when I realize that I need to be doing something more productive, like eating.

I think you stop when you're kind of forcing yourself to play. You might not even have to stop permanently, just stay away for a few days. I played Hearthstone non-stop for a few weeks and even though it's still a really fun game I started to hate it.

For me, I stop playing a MMO when my guild stops playing it and switches to another MMO game. My guild is the reason why I play MMO, otherwise I would just settle for playing console games or single player games.

I just stop playing when I get bored or when I feel like I did everything I liked in the game. I'm into all the crafts in MMO's so when I reached max level on alchemy or engineering in WoW, it felt like I was done. I lost interest because it wasn't a challenge anymore.

Exactly. I normally don't quit games. What I do instead is stop playing it until I want to play it again. This is actually the same with single player games. I have played many SP games where I never complete the game because I got bored. I will eventually pick up on them again.

It becomes an addiction just like smoking on drinking most of the time you are not aware of it, but if you spend more then half your day playing any game then you have a problem.

Once I'm not having fun with a game is when I quit. I play videogames in order to be entertained so once an MMO feels more like a job I'll just quit. The nice thing about MMO's is that the games are constantly evolving and always giving you new things to do.

I usually play an MMO that I`m having fun with until I explore most of it, see all bosses, do all raids, e.t.c. Once done, I go and play something else and return if expansion packs get released or so. If I`m in a nice guild where I have a few online friends, I will still continue playing, but at that point, the game becomes more like a social playform then a game.
