Where do you like to build your shelter?

Me to but sometimes when you load a world it can be quite difficult to look for a place that has all the materials so you have to travel quite far

Yes! I've encountered that many times and usually just walk forever until I can find a reasonable forest. If I can't find anything I'll usually settle down just where I am.

Yeah I guess. As long as the mine is well lit, you shouldn't have too much of a problem with mobs. The one thing I really hate is the creepy noises it makes, like there is something waiting for me down there.

Classic Taiga biomes, making a cosy little wooden hut is my favorite place to build a shelter. Spruce wood is so dark and striking, it's my favorite type of log block and really feels good to outline my little shelter with. The snow makes the house seems like a haven from the cold, making it feel really comfortable. Of course, caves and underground water bases are pretty cool, but a homey shelter in a snowy biome takes the cake for me!

My shelters mostly tend to be underground, for some reason I just end up expanding my safety hole to put my chests in, start crafting and smelting. Then comes the convenience of starting my mineshaft and lo and behold an underground base is born.

I almost always start out a world with the intent on creating something really interesting and not getting past the functional aspects. I play modded Minecraft so there's a ton of machines to get working which ends up taking the time I wanted to use building something awesome.

Into the side of a mountain or hill. It's inconspicuous and I like the idea of a dome-y ceiling.

Anywhere and everywhere. I get lost so often that I tend to throw up little shelters whenever it starts to get dark. My main shelter is pretty high on a hill, though. It tends to help give me the upper hand.

Top of trees for a nice (and useful view) plus it can protect me well. And sometimes beside caves to gain easy access to minerals.

I usually just build my shelter where ever there is a nice view, typically on a hillside or by the bay. The area also has to be fairly safe in order for me to consider building a shelter there.

I usually set my grounds on the trees or anything high enough. I also consider settling down in an area where the animals and other resources are close and easily accessible. I also love building my shelter underground but I prefer it somewhere high enough.

On the trees! I love building a huge tree house and then starting a farm on top of it. It looks cool looking at your huge house on top of a very tall tree. Also, having a base camp on a tree saves you from the those damned monsters.

I prefer an empty field, with a nearby forest and mountain. The base of the mountain becomes my mine entrance, the trees for wood, and a lot of flat, empty space for easy expansion. Also, farms! :D

I like to build my shelters in a forest. I can always use the nearby wood to build stuff, but it's a pain to retrace your steps if you go to far.

On the first few nights, I built my shelter either on top of the ground in any place I can find or somewhere not too deep underground. That's my main concern then: shelter. After I've gotten a few good tools, I can start exploring, to find a place that looks more beautiful and scenic to go to.

I usually build shelter in the side of a mountain and then start digging down until I have decent materials to adventure out in the world :)

My tree house is on top of about 7 trees that are close to each other. :D lol you should try it, connect all trees together and you'd have a nice treehouse that is on tree stilts.

Also try finding a really large tree and dig inside it and create a ladder going up to your tree house, this is my treehouse set up and it works great.

I like to build my home on top of a large mountain - night time is usually falling by the time I finally my shelter done, and I use this time to mine deep into the ground. But building on top of a large hill also allows me to build up - so that I can get a good look at the surrounding are for more resources.

Usually I build underground due to the basic fact that it is easier to start mining for the materials you need than say building your shelter in a tree. Though I have done the whole "Tree House" thing and it was nice to be above all of things that go bump in the night. But generally I just do underground, easier to hide that way.

I like to build off the side of a big mountain. There, I can make a small network of "caves" like ants do, except vertically and horizontally throughout the whole mountain. Also, it makes for a nice view when you build off the side and over the cliff. That's where I generally start my worlds when I start a new one!
