I definitely prefer standalones. Browser games just seem really untrustworthy to me. I played a couple and I always feared for my computer's safety afterwards.

If I am not mistaken, all of the browser based MMORPGs or other types of games I have ever played are quite simple games. They are nowhere near the complexity of the "stand alone" games. Why would you want to play browser games when you want a serious game? Those games feel like app games rather than real traditional video games.

Standalone, seeing I have quite an old PC, browser games tend to lag. I have this irrational "hate" against browser games, I don't know why.

I think for me the standalone would be better for me.

The platform I prefer is PC. There are no limits on the PC and the perfectly built computer can outperform ANY console. The pc has the most mods so it makes sense to choose it.;)

Browser based games might be the future, but they suck at their current state. Don't compare them to standalone games as they are nowhere near comparable. It's going to take some time before we start seeing some good browser based games.

Standalone downloads are superior in virtually every way, although that doesn't mean there aren't good browser-based options out there.

After reading through this thread its kind of obvious that NO ONE prefers browser based games. I think theres a good reason for that. Browser based games have to be streamed to your browser and cant be so complex that the game lags. Standalone doesnt have that problem as they run through their own executable. I know back before Minecraft was released as a standalone a lot of people used programs to run the game independently of the browser.

Although there there has been a significant amount of improvements with browser based MMOs I think most will still prefer downloading a client and being able to play the game with their PC's full capacity.
