I still think it's a dark one. I don't know what else it would be, why would the last key to humanity's survival be Hunter? He's a skilled warrior, but... meh.

Why not? Isn't he saved the WDNCh technically? And he think himself as a guardian of Metro. So he, Khan and Artyom would be a great Last Light.

    Have you read the novel?

Hunter is great at blowing shit up, but he's not what humanity needs. Even in the novel, as the missile strike is being delivered against the dark ones, Artyom is overwhelmed with grief because he realizes that he's just destroyed humanity's last hope of inhabiting the world again.

Can Hunter do that? Can Hunter help humanity rebuild on the surface? No. We'll see when Last Light releases.

And on another note; how could the Nazis capture Hunter? Did they have some sort of outpost or base near the Botanical Gardens, where he was headed? I think not.

Yes I readed the novel, and finished 2034 yesterday. You know, he went nuts after he encountered with Dark Ones right? After his encounter with Dark Ones, his personality got splitted up. One part of him was a natural born killer, and the other part of him was a Guardian of Metro (Old Hunter). So, I think - like in the novel - Hunter returned to the metro but in a weak condition. And again like in the novel, he fought with his other personality and got weaken there. Then he could've been captured by Fourth Reich. I think that's possible, Isnt it? You're right, Artyom overhelmed with grief, but in Hunter's and Metro dwellers' eyes, Dark Ones are threat for their future.

meh I'm more in on the dark one as last light. If artyom hadn't nuked them, darkies and humies would work together towards a brighter future, a , but now, all that is left is the flicker of the last last light.;)

But you could also think that since the explosion that it changed the enviroment to nullify nuclear winter effects.
