Usually to make friends, there are many other reasons. Like beating others, having fun with others, chatting, but usually making friends, seeing bad people and trollers just spoil it though.

I play MMOs for the often updates and content. In single player RPGs you finish the game, then maybe ,if you get lucky, you get a sequel after 1 year...and that's it.

I mostly play MMO's for the gameplay and community. If an MMO had a great community but horrible gameplay, I'd probably meet some new friends, get their contact details and leave, but if it had great gameplay but a horrible community, I'd probably stay, but just not interact with the community at all. So, I guess I play MMO's mostly for the gameplay :)

I don't play MMO's anymore they require to much time and effort in my opinion plus I am always afraid of getting hacked, but with that being said I was considering playing ESO, but I don't want to spend that kind of money on a game that I might play for 1 or 2 years max.

Reasons why I personally play MMO games:

    • It's open-ended gameplay
    • The interaction between thousands, if not millions, of real players
    • Graphic designs involved to create a massive gaming world(s)
    • I can go solo, in a group, or act like a douche to players and NPCs
    • The variations of missions and storyline are better than most non-MMO games
    • MMOs are paving the way to how future games will be, in my opinion
Well, back to playing my MMO games, laters.

I like them because they give you a brand new experience of gaming.
MMO's are a completely different way of playing and you can practically make create and play someones life.

I think because I like gaming in teams and playing with my friends against other people. It is also an entertaining way to spend time.

I like a challenge and I like getting better at something, so they're perfect for me. Besides, I usually use them as a time killer and to spend time with friends.

I play MMO because I am competitive. I feel like I am very into just beating people across the world while also gaining friends.

I would say I play MMOs to spend time with my friends and maybe acquire new ones at the same time. In addition it is good way to spend some extra time.

I have to add that to a lot of people, MMORPG is another form of "social media".
Instead of spending hours each day in an online chatroom staring at plain text and maybe a picture, it is a lot more fun to join a MMORPG to actually have fun while chatting. It is a good way to meet people who share the same interest, and the chatting part is less boring too while playing the game.

They are really fun and it's really nice to build up a awesome looking character where everyone else looks at you in awe!

i love interacting with other players. It makes the game feel so much more alive to me. instead of just dealing with AI the whole time you can actually meet real people and have real experiences with them.

I play MMO's to for the fun it doles out.

If I can play with my friends or boyfriend and it has excellent game play, I'll play it. That makes me want to recruit other so there's more traffic to their site. I always liked the thought of playing together with friends on these types of games.

Of course, enthusiasm to play runs off when no one you know wants to play anymore. :(

It is a nice way to have a combination of real-world socialization, but treat your fantasy thirst as well. Whatever or flavor of MMO might be, there are real people there that are ready to be in character when you want to play the story, but there are also people ready to be a real person who can listen to you if you need a friend. I also like the free-range and nearly endless choices most MMOs give you.

I okay mainly for enjoyment! I also find it as a great way to interact with other people.

When my brother moved to college, we stayed in contact through Workd of Warcraft!

I enjoy satisfaction. I play TERA and the amount of time and effort I put in it will get a few "wow's" from other people. To add to this, TERA is also a korean MMO, so that means you have to grind for months, even years, to get the best gear in the game. It's fun joining guilds and hopping on their Teamspeak to talk to people, and there's always room for improvement. TERA has one of the best PvP systems out there and there's always more to learn even after years of playing.

I can't disagree with this, ozadin.

Like I was saying before, if you have people you can play with, it's fun!

I love that it's more of an action type of game instead of auto attack. When games are different from the masses like that, it makes it all the more fun to play. I've been on there for 2, maybe 3 years and I only reached level 60 twice. Both of them sorceresses, since it's my go to class.

I personally can't level up another character; it simply takes too much time for me and I don't have the willpower to spend 2-3 days leveling up to 60. Even then, getting the good gear also takes a while. Maybe if a new class interests me, then I will make another 60 but until then, I'm holding off. Sorcerer looks fun to play! I love AoE burst classes, but I opted for slayer instead. Fortunately, they're getting buffed next patch so I can't wait for that!
