I think its a good time killer when I really have nothing else to do. The progression of my character and gear makes me keep setting goals and that keeps me hooked to a game.

Mainly social reasons and secondly because it's a good bang for your buck entertainment wise. Most games these days can be cleared in 20 hours of gameplay while paying $60 with little replayability. Sure purchasing the MMO and then the sub may seem like a lot of money at first but if you factor in the hours played vs money paid, you'll see that it comes to equal pennies on the dollar for thousands of hours of entertainment. I hate leveling new characters and grinding but do so in order to play on other servers with other people over the years. Small sacrifice for once again entertainment on the cheap.

I play largely because my friends do. If my friends aren't playing the game, I generally won't either.

In first place, because they are free to play, I don't like to soend my money on videogames (just sometimes, if the game is REALLY worth of it) and there are lot of mmorgs which are free.

And in second place, because I like those games, with worlds and enviroments with a great development, and where I can interact with other people, not like the offline games, there are more boring for me couse I dislike to be alone when I'm playing.

I play to escape the real world. The characters in these games really distract me from whatever is going on in my life. I can just sit back and fall into a completely new universe, and they are a great way to kill time as well!

I would say that it's a good mixture of all there reasons you mentioned. It's not just because there is a lot of replayabality or a lot of content to churn through. The coherent combination of all these things make for a good MMO. World Of Warcraft is a good example of how lucrative this business model can be if everything is perfect.

They're just fun, more so than other genres of video games, at least for me. I'm a simple person. I like being entertained and challenged at the same time. MMOs do a good job at both of those things.

I find them to be a lot more fun than other type of games. I like the way you can sort of identify with your character after a while and you genuinely feel good when he kicks some butt. The communities you find playing MMORPGs are also exceptional. A bunch of people out to have some fun. What's not to love about all that?

I first started out of curiosity and wanting to play with my cousins from a different country. As years gone by and I eventually got hooked, I was recruited to a crowed / guild. Its been 5 years since then and whenever there is a game that interests us, all 26 of us would always join in. I love being with those people.

Because they require a certain amount of tenacity and creativity in some areas. They let you decide.

I don't have much time these days, with working multiple jobs. So MMOs are nice for me because I can hop on and run a few quests, run a dungeon, or do some PVP. Plus, a lot of them are free and it can take me a long time to reach endgame.

Now, when I plan out a full marathon of gaming, I like single player RPGs for the story line. I have Dying Light waiting for me this weekend, so I'm pretty stoked about that.

I like it because you can play in chunks and actually get something done. I can play for an hour or two and make some cash, or go do some PvM or PvP. I just like the flexibility of MMOs in general.

It's because I like to play with other people! Playing solo can be boring sometimes and being able to play with someone is always nice and gets rid of the boredom.

There's many facets of MMOs to enjoy. Human interactions, talking to real people, the ability to roam freely and the abundance of plots/quests. You don't have those things in games such as racing or sports. If you did, they would be massively subjected to watered down stories. MMOs rarely get boring when their worlds are large and features are bountiful.

I like both RPGs and MMOs, but I like MMOs because if a game has a generally excellent community, then I can make friends with and interact with many other players from around the world. Doing quests and dungeons in groups, as well as boss hunting/farming in groups, is also quite fun, and I sometimes prefer it to playing solo.

I like MMOs because you can socialize with many people around the world. I also think MMOs are fun because you are living in a fantasy through your character. I like leveling up and when I finally achieve the level cap, it is satisfying. The best part of MMOs to me are guilds. With a guild, you can have people to level with and also do other things such as dungeons and quests. The current game I am playing right now is ArcheAge. With that game you are able to do a lot of different things and aren't restricted to questing to level. You are able to level through crafting as well, and the crafting system has their own leveling system so that you can craft higher level materials/gears. I also enjoy the game because we do random silly things in the guild and get others on our server involved as well.

I mainly play for the multiplayer aspect of course. It's fun to play against others and playing with others. Playing alone is alright too, but sometimes you start to feel lonely and get bored.

The interaction with other players in the game makes it feel like a community. WoW for example, even though it has those annoying trolls and such, is an amazing community that increases the play value.
