Video about W3's soundtrack and its Slavic roots (this one is in Polish, but there are English captions in the options for those who need them).

I found and decided to buy the first Witcher game at a thrift store because a lot of people here on the forum have said good things about it. :D

Nice! It's aged quite a lot - especially considering it's been 7 years, but still one of my favourite RPGs so I hope you'll enjoy it. If the copy you got is an older release then I highly recommend updating to the enhanced edition of the game (as far as I'm aware, it should still be free like it was back when the update came out).

All right, cool. Thanks for letting me know.

I was surprised to see how old the game was when I looked at the year on the back cover. 2007..... Yup, seven years. I thought it was more modern, from, like, 2010.

Well, if you want to grab the second one to play after you've finished the first one, there is an 80% off discount on it (and W1) on GOG.com right now.

W2 discount: http://www.gog.com/game/the_witcher_2

Thanks, but I'll have to pass -for now. I have this weird habit where I feel like I need to buy the original game first -in a box, case, or even the DVD by itself- before I download the game; but only when it truly requires it -like an old DOS game that is only compatible with Windows using GOG or Steam. Thankfully, The Witcher isn't an old enough game to where I would need to do that. Kind of stupid though, don't you think? Instead of buying an old game online when it's really cheap, I hold off and wait until I buy the original copy first before I get it for download. :p

Thanks again, though. Thit truly is a sweet deal; and if I was a digital download guy, I would definitely go for it. :)

I can relate. :) I used to be a strict boxed-only-no-digital-download kind of gamer, but eventually I started buying more stuff on GOG and Steam because it's just much more affordable with the crazy discounts and sales. Now I have a fairly mixed collection of boxed and digital titles (most of them are still retail versions though), but I haven't bought a physical copy of a game in a while and I don't think I will anytime soon... maybe the Polish steelbook edition of W3, but I won't get that earlier than February 2015.

They do take up quite a bit of space, though; and it has become more discouraging to buy a physical copy of a game, these days, when you consider that the manual is just a reference card and only half of the game is on the disk and the other half needs to be registered /download from Steam -_-

See for me it goes something like this

90-95% Of console games are physical where as only 10% of pc are due to the fact that GoG and steam are so convinent

I've never been one to really buy discs for the PC, but if they keep making games 50 GB with uncompressed textures and all that bullshit, then discs start looking not quite as bad.

I'm going to shamelessly promote my GOGmix here, even though it's not quite completely relevant to any of this. It's an up-to-date list of all the Polish games available on GOG.com, so I'll give you a link and I'd appreciate it if those of you with a GOG account would vote for it. This will make it easier for people to find games from Poland on the website (I plant to keep the list updated with each new title that appears).

ooooo, shadow warrior! Whoooo wanta some Wang?
I just got the original shadow warrior (1997 CD) and have been trying to get it running correctly using source ports and stuff. It works fine except the music volume; it's too loud and I can't seem to turn it down. Since I have the original, I want to get the remake of it too! I was actually going to make a thread about SW classic and how you can get it for free on Steam. I didn't know the new one was a polish game. :D

14. EARTH 2140 series and Gorky-17 are amazing, I vouch for them.

One is a post-apocalypse strategy game from the former baltic state and the other one is a... post apocalyptic strategy game from the former baltic state... hmm.

New trailer, shot at Czersk castle.

No new gameplay footage and no new info if you have been following this thread or just W3 news in general. I'm not disappointed though. I didn't watch the 35 minute video, I hope they won't post any other stuff as long - all of this hype surrounding contemporary games is killing the wonder of playing them.

Some guy posted stuff online, accusing CD Projekt of overhyping the game and putting people under the impression that W3 is a much more polished game than it actually is. He also said that the devs have been working crunch time for over a year now. CDPR responded to this by telling us to look at the 35-min gameplay footage or to just read gamers' reactions.

Although I do agree that the fancy trailers certainly do make the game look as though it's already a finished AAA title, much of the ridiculous hype is indeed often the fault of the gamers themselves (unfortunately I'm sure I've contributed to it at times as well). However, as CD Projekt RED responded, the gameplay footage they officially released shows that it is still very much a work-in-progress with many imperfections, as opposed to the trailers. I'm guessing that in the end we will get a playable yet fairly unstable release, with lots of patches and free DLC post-release that will polish W3 up to perfection - as has been the custom with CDPR games thus far. W3 could in theory be much more polished on launch-day than W1 and W2 thanks to greater finances, but I doubt it considering the fact that it's a much more ambitious and larger project with still only a fraction of a Western AAA budget.

Now, what CD Projekt did respond to is the claim that they are crunching for so long. Unfortunately, this may very well be true. As I'm sure most of us here know, this shady (sometimes voluntary, but usually forced) practice is common throughout the video games industry. I wouldn't be surprised if this relatively small Eastern European studio was trying its absolute hardest when developing the most expensive computer game ever produced in its country. That doesn't make it right, ethical or justified of course, but sadly it's kinda expected at this point. :(

19. I don't think it can get any more POLISHed.

Seriously though, this is supposed to be the pinnacle of the series. As long as they don't take as long as Valve with their Half-Life 3, they can take their time.
