Another free mp3 from the game's soundtrack has been released here for free. This one will play when Geralt is exploring the Skellige Islands and it's based on an old English folk song called Bonnie at Morn. This makes sense, since (as far as I remember from the interviews) Skellige uses some Germanic/Celtic folklore for its setting, as opposed to Vellin - or "No Man's Land" - which is more inspired by Slavic mythology.

A new trailer has been published for W3. As usual, CD Projekt are putting Western audiences on a pedestal and we're still waiting for a native language version of the trailer. Moreover, many people are saying that the graphics seen in the trailer have been downgraded from the previously released materials. It does seem to be this way, though CDP has already released a statement saying that this is due to YouTube's shitty compression of the video and a new version of the trailer is on the way. Whether this is true or not - I guess we will find out, but things aren't looking good and it looks like that anonymous person from the studio who published info about marketing manipulation a while ago may have been right.

You can watch aforementioned trailer here:

Downgrade? I don't think so. They have used an old build if you ask me. It is looks like an unifished models and terrains rather than a downgraded stuff. I belive in the 35 min demo, which is looked as it should be. The trailer is my favourite thought even if it is not looks that good.

Looks great. Too much fantasy for my liking, with all the exaggerated spirits just like Skyrim, and all the rediculously fugly monster-things. Despite that, the reason I'll be getting it is because of the medieval-themed world setting, that including the awesome appearance of Gerald. The fighting mechanics look alright, but not much more than that from what I could see.

To say that it's all console footage seems like the lazy way of explaining the noticeable difference in quality between this and the previous materials, but perhaps you are right. Though I think I read somewhere that CD Projekt said all footage published from the game in the trailers was the PC version, but I can't confirm that as I don't remember where I read it. Anyway, it still looks brilliant in my opinion, but I do see a slight difference in the graphics. It's subtle, but noticeable.

Regardless, I'm still pre-ordering/buying this at release as it's the third part of an awesome trilogy and I'm mainly in it for the story. If the graphics turn out to be slightly worse than the trailers, well then they are still pretty damn good for such a huge world and it just means more people will be able to run the game (hopefully).

In all honesty, I'm more bothered about the devs putting their Polish fans to the side. It has become a pattern for them to release English versions of W3 trailers/gameplay first and the native language versions later. Obviously, it makes sense considering the fact that they are no longer virtually unknown outside of Eastern Europe and must cater to even more audiences, but it's still annoying. :p

By the way, the uncompressed version of the trailer is slightly better (click here if you want to download it) and there are plenty of noticeable improvements, but high quality aside and the actual graphics still look slightly worse than the previous trailers. People are saying that this new trailer was put together from polished and yet-to-be-polished parts of the game in a rush just for the video game awards thing. I guess that would explain things as well. For those who don't want to download the almost 3 GB video, I'm posting a comparison I found below.

And here are just some shots from the uncompressed version.

It is not as good as the previous trailers, but still better than the Youtube one for sure. Looks like the Wild Hunt needs some more texture work but otherwise I think it is just fine. To be honest, I will be happy if my PC will be albe to handle the game like in the 35 min demo. I read somewhere in the official forums that demo runned under an GTX 660 graphich card while it handeld not just the game, it it was in editior mode which needs even more power.

Oh man, you have got to be kidding me -_- .... Oh well, I guess that leaves me with some extra time to save up money for it, and some extra time to finish Far Cry 3 and Dying Light.

The second playable character for W3 has been revealed - it will be Ciri. Basically, she is a character from the books that is the closest Geralt and Yennefer have to a daughter (though her background and place in the plot is much more complicated). Here is the source. For the most part, we'll still be playing as Geralt, but there will be a few sections of the game where we step into Ciri's boots. This is good news, as Polish fans have been speculating who will be this second playable character and worrying that it could be Eskel (which would be pretty cool as well, but it wouldn't feel all that different from Geralt).

In the spoiler tags below I've also included some new screenshots.

Meanwhile, the Russian version of the Elder Blood trailer has been released:

@Darkness: Jokes aside, I do realise that the first game isn't very accessible by today's standards and doesn't make the best of first impressions, but once you get into it - it's amazing. Still, if you skip the first one, it's almost guaranteed you will not like the second or third one as much as you could or perhaps not finish them at all either. This is a series about story, characters and atmosphere above everything else. What many new fans attracted by W3 are doing is essentially jumping into the middle of a trilogy which is already based off a saga most of the game's fans outside of Poland haven't read. The devs might give you the sweet-talk of accessibility, but how can you honestly expect to get really engorssed a plot set in a world you know next to nothing about? :p

Well, I read The Last Wish so I have some knowledge of the background and I've played the witcher 2 through once so hopefully I'll like the witcher 3, even if I'm not as attached to the story as others, the gameplay alone looks like it will hold it up

Ok, right on man. That does give you plenty more background knowledge than most of the people who recently bought these games have. Good on you. :)

I haven't played my copy of W1 yet. It just sits soundly, next to the other games, atop of a shelf.
