Will Microsoft improve minecraft?

I hope so. It probably will I think, but it sort of depends on how you want Minecraft to be.

 

Yeah, that's why they added the Playstation Vita port, right? And keep updating every version of the game on a regular basis. That sure points toward Microsoft making it an Xbox-exclusive setup.

There really isn't much Microsoft can improve on mine craft. Unless they somehow make mine craft into an mmorpg of massive proportions. Which is what i'm really expecting and hoping they do because well who wouldn't mind playing in a huge world that you can build up how ever you want.

 

I also think that there isn't much that Microsoft can improve on with Jeb and crew. Microsoft bought Mojang purely for marketing purposes, since they realized that Minecraft is one of the PC gaming giants. Of course, there will always be new content, but there would have been new content pumping out even if Microsoft didn't buy Mojang.

 

These thoughts have been trailing along my mind recently. I think they have a potential to improve it because they worked with Mojang, but they also don't have a long, first hand experience in keeping Minecraft up to date and fresh like Mojang.

 

I don't think they will change much. At most, I'm guessing they will just maintain it and reap the profits, and maybe they will create a few other spinoff products such as merchandise and games based on some aspects of it. I'm sure they are aware that they shouldn't do too much major changes and risk the fanbase getting mad at them.

 

Well the new update has added dual wielding and stuff. So they atleast seem to be trying to improve it. As for if they actually improve it, only time will tell.

 

Yeah, that is my opinion is that they just will use it as a marketing tool for both branded items, but also as a bridge to their other games. If you have a hugely successful game, and you do not have other games to promote using your main game, you are missing out on a lot of value.

Farmville was the opposite, they had their huge hit and then immediately used that hit to promote other games and squeeze all the value out of it. Minecraft did not have that.

 

Agreed. I think MS is looking to build universes out of it similar to how Lego has upped its marketing and merchandising in the past few years. I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly I started having tie ups like how Lego is tied up with other licensed characters and even had its own movie. I heard MC will also be coming out with a movie soon.

 

Perhaps it's hopeful thinking, but I like to think that they wouldn't have acquired it if they didn't have grand designs and improvements in mind for the series.

 

Yes, Of course, they have to do it because if they will buy and will not make any improvements then what the benefit they will earn by doing so and spending a lot of bucks on this.They will definitely do so.I am very much excited to see the latest version of Minecraft of Microsoft.

 

So far it has been a steady upgrade, but we're still yet to see something relevant. They're probably preparing a really big patch soon (at least I hope).

 

Everything Microsoft touches turns out pretty good, so I'm hoping for a lot of improvements and new things. Let's hope they didn't buy it just for the money.

Well, 1.9 came out recently with a lot of features and additions, that was the big patch I was referring to. I'm having a lot of fun playing with the new stuff, you should definitely give it a go!

 

Yes, they will improve the game. Everyone says it's a smart company and that is why I think it will work on the game very soon but still, I have not seen any improvements.
