Apple has Steve Wozniak and he uses a nixie tube watch (like Artyom).

If things do become non-compatible with older versions of Windows and game companies, such as Epic Games, look down upon it, then I think the best thing they could do is just continue producing game via Windows7/8. There's still a ton of potential for DirectX11 and I'm sure that, with a little bit of effort, they could achieve the same results as if they were to use DirectX12. If that happens, though, Windows would probably begin putting fees on every new product containing their old software due to people resisting to switch over to the new OS. That, or they'll make a new OS and call it Windows 9 -which hopefully will be better than their current one.

What ever happened to the Steam OS system? I read so much about it and how it was going to revolutionize gaming. I know it came out and so did the Steam console, but I haven't heard anything of it since. Must be pretty crappy :eek:hwell:

Yeah, I guess it's what happens when you try to turn a PC into a console... especially at a time when consoles are becoming more like PCs. :p Still, it would be pretty cool to see more game support on Linux-based systems. That way maybe the gaming industry could move away from shitty Microsoft. But I doubt that will ever happen, there are still too many people on their payroll.

    Hahaha, well said
I can't even remember ever acknowledging a Steam OS system. :noidea: But the words do sound familiar. As for the Steam machine, a steamfriend of mine said he really wanted it, and he bragged a lot about how great it was, especially considering the price on it compared to building one yourself. Yet he couldn't afford it.. Poor guy, he has so little money and is such a good cyberfriend that I actually bought a copy of Arma3 for him with my own money a while back :p

Anyway, I've got Windows7 on a CD disc, so I'll just install that to my new PC, no Windows10 for me :nono:

Yeah, wise move. The only problem is that official support for Windows 7 will end even sooner than it will for Windows 8 (I think that's around 4 years from now, but I'm not sure about that). :( Of course, you'll be fine with running most things on it for even a few years after that (there are still people out there using XP, including some of our forum members, because it was probably the best OS Microsoft ever made), but that's just something to keep in mind. It makes me really consider whether I should stick with W8 or get the free "upgrade" for W10 - before they stop offering it for free - and just use lots of unofficial workarounds to get rid of the shitty default settings that are apparently impossible to change completely just by going through the menus. In any case, I guess I still have a few months to make my mind up. Either way, even if I will end up using Windows 10, I will have to modify it quite a bit to get rid of all the useless crap and suspicious privacy settings.

That's a nice thing to do.
I still see that as a lot of time; and, by then, Windows 10 will already be 4 years in operation so you should be able to develop a solid opinion on whether you should switch over to it or not.

    Damn right:

The only things incompatible with WinXP are modern games that are designed for directx 10 and up (winXP is directx 9 and below). There are a couple of games out there that I've been left out on due to my old OS -such as Wolfenstein and Alien Isolation- but they aren't enough to convince me to switch over to Win7. I know that, back when I had Win2000, I was able to "hack" game files for "WinXP only games" and manage to play them on Win2000 without any anomalies. The reason was due to the massive similarities between the two operating systems. Hopefully, when Win7 becomes unsupported, one will simply be able to "hack" Win8 games and get them to work on Win7. That'd be awesome :D

For me, though, I know that the breaking point will be when Half-Life 3 comes out. That's when I'll "upgrade" to which ever the minimum operating system is to play the game. ;)

What I would do is temoparrly switch over, save the Win10 OS on a flash drive, switch back over to Win8, and just keep the Win10 for future use.

Huh, so apparently you can possibly stay with Win7, even after it's not supported anymore? Nice. :thumb:

    If Half-Life 3 comes out.... >.>

I'm not actually sure if there are any Windows 8 exclusive games (as in, if any games came out that require W8 or newer OS to run), apart from some shitty stuff on the Windows Store, I guess. Though I could be wrong. Besides, Windows 7 and Windows 8 are actually very similar technologically - the latter is only slightly faster, but lacks beloved features like the traditional start menu.
