I do keep and tame them, but I never set them to follow. I tend to build kennels or cathouses, and sit them there. Wolves don't have this problem so much, but I cannot stand the way that cats sit on chests when you let them follow you. It's a fantastic game mechanic, but it can drive me up a wall if I need something and I can't push the cat off.

I gather up and breed a whole army of wolves, with some ocelots in sitting position around various spots of my house to keep creepers at a distance. The wolves are really fun to have around and breed to fill an entire room, and should some hostile mob spawn in my house it will get torn to pieces by all those wolves.

However, I do not really like to bring the pets about with me while mining or adventuring as they have a bad AI and tend to kill themselves really easily, so I have to take a lot of precautions and walk to the right places to prevent them from killing themselves, and I feel that it is more trouble than it is worth so I don't like to bring them about. Maybe next time when they have an upgraded AI it will be easier to actually use them as fighting companions, as for now I will just have them around for fun.

I do. Mostly because I just like the idea of having a herd of attack wolves at my command.

I usually try to get a pet of my own as soon as possible, both of the pets give you some pretty nice bonuses, but me being a cat person and all, I usually go for Ocelots. Of course, that's not the only reason, they also keep creepers away, and that's a lovely convenience when you're build a house, or an addition to your current house.

I always try to tame a cat, because creepers are VERY annoying when you have a shiny survival base that you spent a lot of time in it. I get wolves if I meet one in the wild and I have a bone, I don't look for one, but if they come it's all good.

I always breed a bunch of wolves to protect myself while hunting for food at night. I love dogs so this is the closest thing that I could have in Minecraft.

I really like getting Ocelots. I think that they're really cute. And aren't cats and ocelots the same thing? I don't think that there's a difference. I love the way the Creepers are always scared of the ocelots.

I played back when there were no animal companions. Today, I just find them annoying to deal with. The last time I played with them on, I suffered a significant frame decrease and their noises get annoying sometimes. Also, they don't always go through their doggy doors and guiding them in is a pain in the rear. However, I don't even like opening and closing doors(I use the pressure plate method) so I guess I'm all about efficiency, but animal companions are not efficient.

On servers with Mcmmo. I always get like 50 wolves and go into pvp. I rape every person just because they can not handle all the wolves jumping on them. The only reason i lose fights with dogs is when they have hacks like Killaura/forcefield.

Yeah, that's what it says on the Minecraft wikipedia, but they could still blow up both you and your ocelots if you get too close, which is rather inconvenient. But, otherwise they'd run away from you if you have a tamed ocelot with you, so that's pretty convenient, if you ask me.

I pay attention to them! Wolves are so awesome! They're good pets to take with you when you explore because they can help you in combat. Ocelots on the other hand are great for keeping creepers away from your base. But I don't really find myself bothering with ocelots though. They're pretty stubborn and hard to tame, so I just stick with wolves!

I love cats, I have ton of them! I don't keep wolves as a pet since the place where I live in Minecraft are not snowing.

Cats are great for preventing creepers from getting too close, and I like having them around for that reason. Wolves are useful for fighting in certain situations, too.

Cats and wolves also are good to have to help protect. I think those are pretty usefull and for me always a must to keep those creepers away.

I prefer wolves, out of all the obtainable pets, just because they help me in combat and so forth. But, I seem to get carried away when I find them, because I feel the need to take them all so they won't get lonely, then my house just kind of gets overrun with dogs after a little while.

Wolves are my favorite as they are my personal army! I like to be realistic with them so I build them all a big doghouse with warm fluffy kennels! Cats are cool but they are kind of useless in my opinion also they are annoying to find.

I love all the different animals that are present in the game. Cats are awesome as tamed pets, but I find that they are hard to find and capture initially. When confronting a cat, they run away very quickly, even when the distance between is long. I've had a few wolves as pets, they make good guard dogs against mobs.
