    Vanguard, back when it launched, was pretty atrocious. It ran poorly, the game had vast expanses of nothingness, and a lot of the cool features, like Diplomacy, were straight-up busted. I've heard the game has made some big improvements since SOE took over, but I don't know if I'm really interested in trying it again. Bad first impression.

    I think what made it so "fun" was mostly just addiction. The game had a loot system that made grinding exciting because even weak monsters had a small chance of dropping valuable shit. It was kind of like playing a slot machine.
