[x] Nuclear Winter (Now a Ukraine fustercluck thread)

Well, it's not too far of a drive for me to come join you guys in the fun.

 

True. Us Canadians usually have the benefit of having the US on two sides and the oceans on the other two but in the case of a nuclear war it's not much of a benefit...

 

Well if we're in the Fallout universe, then it's definitely no benefit.

If they suddenly started dropping bombs all over England, then I'm guessing most of them would land down south. But they surely wouldn't forget about us up here in the north near the big cities, if they wanted to destroy the whole country. With that said, the town I live in isn't really a target of any significance - though the larger city nearby would surely get hit, and that would probably affect us as well. Best direction to run away to would be any as far away from the city as possible.

If I was in Warsaw at the time (my birthplace and original hometown), then I don't think there'd be a high chance of being targeted. It would have been much more likely in the early '80s, when martial law was introduced in 1981 through 1983. Anyway, assuming Poland would somehow be targeted during current times, I guess I could probably try to get to the Warsaw metro. Only 8 of the 21 stations were built to serve as shelters, so perhaps I'd be able to survive by hiding there... but the chances of the shelters actually withstanding a nuclear explosion up above are probably just as slim as the Moscow metro withstanding the blast. hwell:

 

I had the thought that I could go to Oslo here in Norway, because it has a metro. Then again, I highly doubt that it's buildt to be a nuclear shelter. And it wouldn't be very clever going into the capital, because it'd be the first place to get nuked..

 

What do radioactive clouds look like? Floating mushrooms?

Well, I don't leave the house much, so I'd probably just turn off the AC, gather all the food and water I can, and stay in the basement.

But if for some reason I was in the wilderness...I have no clue. I guess dig a hole and try to sort out some kind of shelter, although considering the fallout isn't likely to just go away over a day, I'd probably be better off just trying to get back to some actual shelter instead of taking my chances with some random cave.

 

Well it's an unfinished basement set on all 4 walls by solid concrete. I don't know how far it goes, but I figure my main concert would likely be the ceiling. I guess if I have time to grab some supplies, I have some time to grab a shovel, and any rays that do get through would likely either be in smaller numbers or lesser severity, right? I mean, they still have to go through the rest of the two-story house too.

 

Plus, you can always remove some doors from the house, take them to the basement, lay them at an angle against a wall so that there is room to crawl into, pile heavy objects onto the doors (remember: the more dense/mass objects you have over yourself, the better protected you will be), then crawl inside your makeshift shelter.

As for myself, I would go to my school and go and hide in its basement;which was originally built as a fallout shelter during the 1950s.

 

I live ina area where only the city would get hit do to chemical plants...I would jsut go crawl intoa old mineshaft or if could not reach it .45 colt plus forehead plus trigger pull
