Now, I don't want to be insulting to anyone but the American government seems to have taken an anti Russia stance in the past few years.

2. It's not even a secret, a quick google search:

Same thing during the 2004 Maidan.

More like the past 70 years.

The only way someone can get upset when you're slagging off their government is if they're working for them or are a politician - which makes them a cunt, not you. To my knowledge no one here is such a person. If anyone here identifies with the less than 1% of your country's population who hold all the power, then they're an idiot.

I wouldn't be offended if someone said that the Polish government is utter shite... because it is.

It just seems to have got worse because from what I've heard, the relationship between Bush and Putin was really good for an American and Russian government and didn't yeltsin and clinton get on quite well

6. Saber rattling that you see now was a weekly occurrence for about a half of the 20th century.

It's not an insult, our governments just haven't had a history of getting along well.

Never said it was, I just apparently suck at Googling. Thanks for the results, interesting stuff.

And @Darkness I obviously wasn't around for it (like most of us), but from what I understand, tensions these days are certainly nothing like the Cold War (we've since given up on nuking the moon). But old habits die hard, and I ain't no durrty red.

tensions are great nowadays compared to the cold war, my dad still doesn't trust the Russians. And why dd they give up nuking the moon, it would be a very important thing, much like going to the moon again but that's a whole different discussion

:pound: ha ha ha, this is hilarious. These two guys use to be on a show called Mad TV. It was a great comedy show where they use to do stupid skits like this, along with other comedians. Too bad it went off the air a few years back.

*clears throat* More Merica :rolleyes::

My dad too, but he grew up during the cold war and says there was easily more tension back then; especially during the 80s, the point in which the Cold War's tension was at its highest. For example, my high school, the same school my dad went to, was build in 1951 with a fallout shelter. My dad told me that when he went to school there, he would pass by it and gaze at the giant fallout shelter sign that was outside of it (He's the one who got me into post-apocalyptic stuff). Now, after the cold war has ended, the fallout shelter has become the schools storage basement and the sign is no longer there ( little to no tension anymore with Russia). Maybe they have stored the sign in a box there; guess I better go and ask for it :p. He also told me that there was an entire fleet of B-52 bombers at the airbase and would fly by over head every so often. Not anymore. The B-52s have moved out and been stationed somewhere else . One more thing. A while back, a base inside of the military base (yeah I know, it's redundant) was inspected by someone who happened to be carrying a Geiger Counter and discovered that it is was red hot, meaning there was a lot of radiation there, even though there was nothing there. Turns out, the base inside of the base was used to assemble and store ICBMs during the Cold War :); not anymore though

Other things that were more "out there" that everyone knew about, but are no longer used or needed today, are things such as Civil Defense, a program designed to inform people of nuclear attacks, conduct emergency operation drills with towns, supply food and supplies to community fallout shelters, and distribute books and videos upon request, advising what to do during an attack. Have you ever heard of the instructional video distributed to schools by the U.S. government to teach kids what to do in case of a nuclear attack?

And to top it all off, za Russians wanted to show the entire world what they were capable of; and thus, the Tsar Bomb was born!!! Crazy, but epic! :pop2:

I really do wish tensions were high between the U.S and U.S.S.R. (Oops, I meant Russia ) so that all the cool nuclear stuff would comeback. Fallout manuals, how-to build your own fallout shelter handbooks, air raid sirens, cool posters, etc. Though, there is still little tension left from the cold war, it's not nearly close to what is was 23 years ago ;).

Off topic, sortta, but has anyone else heard of the Mars One Mission? It'd be cool if they pull it off.

11. US/RF relationship is getting "worse" because Putin's RF is no longer a Yes Man for the States. Yeltsin approved a lot of US proposals such as privatization, but these don't fly anymore. Remember that one time recently when Russia vetoed US military intervention and stopped a war in Syria despite the rest of the world being okay with it? Yeah.

The decay really started back in 2008 when the US funded Georgia attacked RF satellite state South Ossetia in an attempt to check if RF is still a punching bag or not and got its ass handed to it.

Now RF started gathering allies again. China, India, Venezuela, Cuba, Belorussia, Syria and now Ukraine. Space race is on again (The most interesting part to me). Naturally US is pissed, since it had virtually no opposition for 20 years.

P.S. China seems surprisingly cool with us despite having a lot of reasons to hate us (We gave them communism and accidentally the whole economy cultural heritage.).

I think China is cool with America because China knows no one will threaten them. If they wanted to, they could bring the world to its knees economically and also a Chinese ambassador once said that you can fire a nuclear warhead at Beijing and Hong Kong and we will still have over a billion men left to fight you with

14. Canadian Prime Minister tells Putin to withdraw troops from Ukraine, pulls ambassador out of Russia, withdraws from G8 being chaired by Russia and officially recognizes legitimacy of new Ukrainian government. Initial reports out of Moscow account for approximately zero fucks given by Putin at the time of this publication. Reporters are standing by to count any unexpected fucks but they're not holding their breath.

Yep - exactly - it just isn't possible to be 100% unbiased. Best way is to look at various news sources to get a balance of different types of bias.
