Though as you said before, it's obviously within Russia's interests to not actually have to do so. I doubt they'd risk a real bout of violence in Ukraine if it could be avoided, just to try and put humiliate some Western politicians. Plus, it's not like the economic sanctions won't have any kind of serious negative impact. Though like we've all probably said multiple times, hopefully it all goes down the non-violent route and everybody goes home slightly less pissed off than normal.

Also, found this little gem floating around.

Great article, but I find it rediculous that he's trying to have it shared via Facebook, when 80% of Facebook's content is the exact opposite of that, and the rest 19% is just marketing and advertizing. I really hope that sharing this via facebook is just an additional way to spread the message, because oh joy, who cares about that stuff when they're browsing facebook?

.....I'm gonna stop myself now before I go complete full-on rant towards Facebook

  3. Yeah, because a destabilized Europe is good for business. Oh boy, big bad Russia is coming and EU is powerless to oppose it, better make my own nukes!

Well, his main points are facts. It's just a matter of how you interpret them.

For example: Yes, we signed an agreement with Ukraine for it to surrender nukes, but that government is gone and we didn't sign anything with the new guys.

    What could possibly go wrong?

Well, other than the fact that they're not the only country to give up their nukes for sovereignty, South Africa did too. And the fact that NATO and the UN are seperate IO's (plus, Ukraine isn't a member of NATO). Plus the fact that they can't just build nukes out of reactors, and (hopefully) there's nobody in power actually stupid enough to start dropping fucking nukes over a territory dispute. And of course, the claim that there is no discrimination on the Russian-speaking population just isn't true.

I guess it's the bullshit you'd expect to hear from the CEO of a bank. Nevertheless, we wouldn't be knee-deep in this shit had Putin not decided it was a good idea to waltz his troops into Crimea. You can argue all you want that it's because of the fascists who forced Yanukovych out of Ukraine, but in truth - all sides of this argument deserve each other... it's just a shame that they're able to manipulate so many people into believing their crap.

  6. Depends on what media you use as source.

Yes they can. They can make fuel rods into plutonium, which is why everyone is pissed about people building reactors.

  10. U.S. Promises $1 Billion in Loan Guarantees to Ukraine [Source]

Russia offered 15 billions. But destroying the capital and putting nazis in charge was more important. Who else would push "Ban Russian language" and "Give ethnical Russians second class citizen status" bills in a country an inch from defaulting and in dire need of fixing the economy?

It's interesting to see how this thread has gradually been turning from "wutz hapennin in da ukrain?" to eating out Russia's ass...

  16. Well, if you follow the events somewhat closely, you can notice that the temp government is currently cancelling minority language law in Ukraine parliament as opposed to doing something actually useful.

I'll stop, but nobody posts anything else, so I'm basically the only voice in here and I've already said that I'm biased. Besides, what other news are there? EU is acting gradually more "concerned" but doesn't really do anything?

How about we close the thread and archive it?

Last time I checked, you were Moderator only in the Last Light section ;)
Just out of curiosity, I don't think you actually can use any moderative powers in this subforum, can you? 'Cause I'm pretty certain I only enabled moderative powers for you in the Metro-section of the forum. I'll just go to bed now and let you try to lock it, 'cause I'm curious if you actually do have moderative powers outside the Metro-subforums. So go ahead, and if it doesn't work, Aaron or I will deal with it later :)

  20. Already did. It's marked as locked and I assume that since you are a mod, you can post here despite the lock.

    Yes I do.
