    Brainwashed by video games :p
Seriously, though, I think my life here is boring as shit. And I'd like to go somewhere and push myself over these limits, something you can't when you are in the comfort zone. I just think that life will become a grey mass only lit up by perhapse having a child or a girlfriend/getting married, if you don't get some experiences every once in a while. And this army life seems like the right adventure for me.

My link got removed so here we go:

    1. Finish school and my degree.
    2. Move back to New Zealand or America
    2. Either join the Army as a General Service Officer (Pilot), Navy as a General Service Officer (Pilot), Air Force as a Pilot or an Air Combat Officer, go into civilian aviation (Pilot), mooch of my parents for a few more years or use my degree and get into graphic design.
    4. Military coup and install a autocratic meritocracy diarchy, and decree myself a Prince of Equestria.
    5. Construct a cannon that fires undesirables into the moon,
    6. Settle down some-place nice

I don't have my future mapped out like some. All my life I wanted to join the Army. I knew that was all I wanted to do with my life, and there was no question that I would spend many years in the Army..... But that didn't happen (still could, though) and now I have no idea what I'm going to do, (right now not so much 'in the future'), or more importantly what I actually want to do. I'm sure the Australian Defence Force is going to be a part of my life - likely the Army Reserve, but other than that I don't know what's going to happen down the road, career-wise, or in any other aspect of my life for that matter. :eek:hwell:

If you asked me a year ago I would say I'm dead set on joining the adf, but now I think I'm not.

Essentially I want to get some job in the aviation industry, naturally flying. A couple thousand apply for an aviation job in the defence force, and less that 1% actually get their desired position. All the others get binned with another surplus job, which I don't need because half the reason I'm there is to get the smorgasbord of aviation related degrees at adfa. So after my military career is over I can use them. Right now I just think civilian flying would be more rewarding in some aspects, not to mention more wallet friendly, and that I will not be committed to a position for 8 years, if I decided to quit. Right now I just don't think I have the aptitude to get any other job in the military. If your not going to make big bucks, then you might as well be comfortable in your job. That was a good question, thank's for asking.

Ah okay, that makes sense. Thanks :)
At one point I had an interest in flying helicopters (well it's really always been my 'dream' career but it'll most likely never happen), but getting a commercial license would cost a fortune. My uncle told me maybe I could do it in the military, considering I already wanted to join, but then I saw a documentary on people trying to get into the ADF as pilots. I'll just say, that idea went right out the window. It'd be more realistic, for me, to just save money all my life and think about doing it far, far down the track when I can afford it.

Getting your civvie licence is honestly not that expensive, especially for light sport aircraft. The most cost-effective way to go about it is go for a light-sport license and upgrade as you see fit. It's mutch cheaper than going outright license for the big guns. I personally won't even bother upgrading, light sport aircraft (esp. open cockpit) are the most fun! If you live near/on the Gold Coast, I could recommend a place or two.

Is this you? If that's the case, I must be quite the detective. Is anyone else here on the Metro Wiki?

    My plan:
-finish high school (currently in 11th grade)
    -enlist in the Army
-finish basic training and complete infantry school
    -attend jump school
-(hopefully) be put in the 82nd Airborne Division
    -finish enlistment
-go through college, debt-free thanks to Uncle Sam.

    anyway:
    -Finish High School
-Go to College, and try and get a Civil Engineer Degree
-Then we'll see where I will end up....

"Jump school" is where troopers go to learn how to parachute safely from an aircraft. Once completed, it qualifies them to serve in an airborne infantry division, which is where I'd like to end up.

As my life is now I want to:
graduate schóol as teh crappy musician I am
    Study as a nurse
Join the army, either engineers or as medic or marksman
Work in the armys International efforts outfit for a couple of years
Work as a aid worker in Doctors without Borders
And if Im by this point still alive, retire in my early 30s and start a wind farm and live off the land and scratch my bellybutton till the day I die. Or walk aroundthe globe (might get in trouble reaching Australia, but should be manageable:p)
