Hackers frustrate me, and I think it's very unfair. That being said, I don't have the technical knowhow in order to hack myself, so there is a certain weird respect I have for them for the simple reason they know how to do that. I just wish they'd put their talents to other uses.

These so-called "Hackers" generally aren't even actual hackers. They're script-kiddies who are merely leeching off of somebody else's hard work. Now, in single-player games, I have no problem with actual hacking. Don't even have a problem with script-kiddies. I mean shit, it's fun as hell to mess with a few values. In multiplayer games, I have quite a bit of disrespect for script-kiddies who ruin the game for other. Actual hackers on the other hand to an extent have my respect, so far as their cheated attempts at personal gain do not negatively impact the other plays of the game.

I think every big game will have hackers involved. They just seek a way to make some easy money. And given that a lot of underage players play MMO's, they have easy targets.

They all need taken out and whipped with their computer cables IMHO. There are just some people who love to cheat and it ruins the skill that any one player has. I never used any mods in WoW and only used the keyboard keys to be a damn good healer. I wasn't using hotkeys either, they just confused the issue.

Bah, sounds like the response from someone lacking the resources to do it. Most people are like that though. They'd cheat if they knew how everyone else cheating.

Any hacker who does so to unfairly obtain a higher score and boost his own ego is just a sad loser. That's common sense.

However, I've met hackers in certain games who actually make the game more fun by skewing with the game engine or letting other players do things that the normal gameplay doesn't allow. Sometimes that can be really fun/cool, but that is rare.

Watch this video of a DayZ player being "haunted" by a ghost.

Real hackers should be respected, that's all I'm saying. Some of them definitely have earned their ability to exploit certain games just because most of you have NO idea the amount of man-hours it would take to be able to accomplish some of these tasks.

Nope! You got the wrong guy here. What's the point sucking the life from a game or sport by doping? Nothing. Not for me anyway. If I have skills then I want to use them instead of getting the No.1 spot by being a numpty.

Real hacker should be respected indeed. The programmers spend donkeys on an exploit, not the script kiddies who get hacked because they don't have knowledge which you where pointing out from my post. I could, but why bother. Hacks could be much better used instead of CoD or WoW...

    Yeah but if you hack on CoD or WoW, federal agents don't show up at your door shortly thereafter.. (;

Real hackers, sure maybe. It definitely takes talent if they aren't just a script kiddie.

But that's exactly what every game hacker is, a dumb script user who paid $30 for a hack made by some other coder who doesn't even play the game. That takes no talent, just money.

Sure but a lot of these so called viruses on Xbox for the silly script kiddie is going to mess up their copy of the game, their machine and just annoy the hell out of others on-line.

Agreed, I dont respect anybody who breaks the game mechanics and destroys the fun. If you want to showcase your hacking skills there are better things to do than destroy online games. Hacking sucks.

If it is a single player game, then I honestly don't think it matters if you hack or mod it, but when it comes to games like call of duty or any other MMO then that is where I take issue, I don't see the point in hacking a game just so you can win all the time, it just seems to me that the people who do it either suck at the game and or just want to ruin everyone else's fun, for instance Counter Strike Source, used to be a great game but now it is literally full of Hackers, I mean I can't find a single game where there isn't someone running through walls, shooting through walls or who isn't invisible.

It really takes all the fun out of games and in my opinion hurts the image of the game and company that made it.

I am definitely anti-hacking. If you are good enough to hack a game - go and write your own and play with other hackers. I know, for some, it is simply an academic challenge to see if they can do it. If they manage to sneak a flag onto their outfit or something, I am not bothered and perhaps a little impressed. If their sword can now cut through an enemy at 400 paces, it is not cool at all.
There need to be real world consequences for hacking - not just a ban from the game. If it is a kid - community service all summer. If it is an adult - financial penalties and possible jail time.

Agreed, it's highly insulting to the gaming community as a whole when hackers start messing things up.

I will not say that I hate modders or hackers, but I would prefer that they played the game like everyone else instead of ruining it for everyone. If I am going to play a game then I am going to put in the time and the effort that the game requires and I would like for everyone else playing the game to do the same, but such is life. If the game hosts do not see fit to punish hackers or modders then what can the rest of us do about it?

Exactly the rules in the games are there for the total experience to be fair and enjoyable for everyone, all it takes is one person to go against the in game rules and in my opinion that's when it ruins the game for everyone.
